146 Date Identification

I purchased another 146 for what I would describe as an absolute bargain. I have taken a look at some dating charts and information, but I cannot definitively pinpoint the production span of this particular pen.

• Plastic piston threads
• Germany on clip
• No "Pix" anywhere
• Slitted ink window
• Monotone 14K nib
• Plastic feed

I believe it to be from the early 90's (1991-1992). Then again, some parts may have been swapped or replaced.

The bolded and underlined...seems a mishmash of parts/eras.

If you don't mind sharing how you acquired a MB 146 at an "absolute bargain", it will be greatly appreciated.

 

I am in a frantic search for one.

I see. It is quite the unusual combination.

 

I found this 146 on eBay like my other 146's, though this one was more heavily used. The pen had many "laugh lines," but some resin polish and a little elbow grease had it looking many years younger. I paid around $150, which is fairly inexpensive considering the nib was in pristine condition and the piston operated smoother than my M800's. I am sure that you will find a better bargain as there are a good amount of 146's circulating the Bay. Best of luck.
