@Fozzie, glad to help. Send me your name and addy and I'll write you a letter with some purples that I have currently inked.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Create a Ghostly Avatar and I'll send you a letter. Check out some Ink comparisons: The Great PPS Comparison

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

Wow. The Amethyst looks mighty ... almost ... perfect. How does it behave? Temper tantrums or can you can take it out to formal affairs? :lticaptd:

Thanks.

Cheers.

My ink-swap post(s) become out of date eventually. My signature is always current. If you want to swap some ink, here's what I have: Diamine: Ancient Copper, Oxblood, Poppy Red, Red Dragon, Sherwood Green; Iroshizuku: Kon-peki, Ku-jaku, Take-sumi; Noodlers: 54th Mass, BSB, Purple Martin, X-Feather, Widow Maker; Private Reserve: Blue Suede. I'm partial to highly saturated inks, but am open to suggestions. PM if interested.

It's a little too dry for me. The MB Violet is also quite similar.

I use this ink in my Parker Duofold Mandarin Yellow (Limited Edition 1995) and it's perfect for me. No clogging and a smooth flow.

The color is very rich. Great quality.

Fozzie, here's the list of purples I'm working with, comprising suggestions from lots of other purple fans including lovely FPN people - those in purple I've already reviewed and are either up already, or soon will be, on Too Many Purples ('way too many pictures to copy here!). Some of the others may also appear before too long, although there are some highly elusive purples out there. Let me know if you manage to track down any of those obscure Sailor numbers : )

You should add the Roberson's Penman Classic Inks. I have Violet Agate and Lilac Agate if you'd like samples?

Oo, thanks for the tip-off! I actually wandered into Cornelissen's just the other day and didn't spot these - I shall look harder next time. Both the Agate's look interesting indeed - what sort of pen are you using them in?

The last pen I had the Violet Agate in was a Sheaffer No-Nonsense italic fine, which is actually more like a generous medium. These inks have a lovely vintage look - they are called 'transparent' on the label, but they actually show up well on the page.
