Waterman 52 1/2V Red Ripple: Wenol? Simichrome? Something Else To Polish It Up?

Thanks to my fellow FPNers (read: enablers), I've purchased a Waterman Ideal 52 12/V Red Ripple. From the seller's photos, it looks like a touch of polishing may be in order. What's better to use: Wenol (red label), Simichrome (which I already have, for the Esties), or something entirely different?

Also, I assume a jeweler's polishing cloth will be fine for the gold plated furniture, right...?

And (since this is rolling along), what about 100% pure carnauba wax? Does that come into play?

Please advise, Oh Wise Ones. :)

Why are there fourteen samples of dark plum ink on my desk? Because I still haven't found the right shade.

Is that a problem...??? : : : sigh : : :

Update: Great. Finally found one I love (Lamy Dark Lilac) but I can't get more. Ah, life in my inky world....

Hey there mods---

Please feel free to delete this. It's been rewritten, with a better headline since this was getting no views.

Thanks!

Hi PaperQueen......there has been much discussion concerning polishing of hard rubber pens, over the years, and much of the info can be found on this site. To start with, try reading though all the threads in this link from 2011.

You may end up with more questions, but there's a lot of good discussion from some very knowledgeable people.

Thanks for forwarding the link, acb---in my endless searches on FPN, I've read through dozens (and dozens and dozens) of posts that focused on celluloid, acrylic, and single color ebonite, but couldn't find anything that applied to the red ripple.

Glad your eyes are keener than mine. ;)
