Kobe (神戸市 Kōbe-shi) is the sixth-largest city in Japan and is the capital city of Hyōgo Prefecture. It is located on the southern side of the main island of Honshū, on the north shore of Osaka Bayand about 30 km (19 mi) west of Osaka. With a population around 1.5 million, the city is part of the Kyoto-Osaka-Kobe metropolitan area along with Osaka and Kyoto. Its name comes from "kanbe" (神戸), an archaic title for supporters of the city's Ikuta Shrine. Kobe became one of Japan's 17 designated cities in 1956.
Kobe is famous for its shirines and nioce architecture but among fountain pen and ink afficionados the name Kobe cause increased heart-rate. The city is a home ofNagasawa-Kobe stationery shop that offers incredible lione of more than fifty inks made by Sailor.

My master - plan is to prepare comparison of full line of Nagasawa-Kobe inks. Not an easy task as they're not the most obtainable inks on the market, but hopefully I'll manage to do it :)
At the moment Nagasawa-Kobe offers 52 inks:
  1. Rokko Green
  2. Pier Blue
  3. Old Foreigner Ward Sepia
  4. Kitano Foreigners Residence Red
  5. East Asia Black
  6. Kobe Bordeaux
  7. Kaikyo Blue
  8. Arima Amber
  9. Suma Purple
  10. Mikage Grey
  11. Ikuta Orange
  12. Okamoto Pink
  13. Nunobiki Emerald
  14. Maya Lapis
  15. Maiko Green
  16. Nada Brown
  17. Shioya Blue
  18. Sannomiya Panse
  19. Minatogawa Lime
  20. Motomachi Rouge
  21. Taisanji Yellow
  22. Shinkaichi Gold
  23. Nagata Blue
  24. Nakayamate Black
  25. Tarumi Apricot
  26. Wadamisaki Blue
  27. Kounan Maroon
  28. Suzuran Green
  29. Suma Kaihin Blue
  30. Ooji Cherry
  31. Seashore Stone Grey
  32. Tamon Purple Grey
  33. Rikyuu Moon Yellow
  34. Sourakuen Tea Green
  35. Suwayama Leaf Green
  36. Sakaemachi Indigo
  37. Minatojima Island Blue
  38. Kitanozaka Night Blue
  39. Kobe Brick
  40. Sumiyoshi Brown
  41. Suma Rikyu Rose
  42. Rokko Island Sky
  43. Gakuen Toshi Fresh Green
  44. Sumaura Seaside Blue
  45. Hachibuse Silhouette Green
  46. Nagisa Museum Grey

  49. Kitano Olive Green
  50. Kyo-machi Legend Blue

Maiko Green is another intriguing green from Sailor. I like this one a lot but not as much as Souraken Tea Green.

Looking Good!!!!... You will need to make a comparison with #15, #28 and #34.... I have #28, #34 looks very close .. and I am not sure where #15 fits.

Awesome review as always Vis!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D

This is a pretty green -- dark and... deep-like. Funny, a few years ago, I LOVED Noodler's Zhivago, the green-black or black-green. But I haven't used it for a couple of years, and I wondered why. I realized that I don't particularly care to write in green anymore. Although I do like Iroshizuku Chiku-rin, which is too bright and light for blocks of writing, certainly not for more than one page (which even that seems like too much).

And yet I like green inks. Like this one.

Just not to write with. Weird.

Thanks for another great review!

WOOHOO!!!..

Ok.. Rokko will always be a favorite of mine...  ..... Maiko is too close and with the right paper and pen will be indistinguishable.. ;)

I have Suzuran.. (another favorite)... and Sorakan Tea is a clear winner in my books. I believe Suzuran is very close to it. :D :D

I can live without Hashibuse. :)

Thanks so much Vis.... This comparison is priceless... ;) ;)

Agree - extremely valuable and gives me an excellent option when I can't acquire my first choice. Awesome job you're doing, V :notworthy1:

I've added Suzuran to comparison. Suzuran and Souraken are very similar.

Yep... and that's WHY... I went for Suzuran.... From the line of Kobe Greens, the ones I went for: Rokko, Suzuran, and Olive. :D

One interesting thing I discovered about this ink is that it is a very close match to the green used on the back of a US dollar bill.

Great review! And thank you for the comparisons. This isn't my color of green, though.

  • 1 month later...

And here in much "drier" pen: Kaweco AL Sport, broad nib on Clairefontaine paper

Almost different color :)

(I have four Sport\s by Kaweco. Classic used as eyedropper gives amazing and wet line and writes like a dream while theoretically the same broad nib in AL Sport is dry and bad. I needed to micromesh it. It helped a little but frankly I'm strongly disappointed with this one).
