How quickly do Lamy Safari limited edition colors generally sell out? I am hoping to try out the Lilac as my first Safari, and am a bit worried about actually being able to get one. Is there a precedent for them selling out in minutes / seconds / hours? I plan to place an order ASAP with the Goulets...if I can. :(

How quickly do Lamy Safari limited edition colors generally sell out? I am hoping to try out the Lilac as my first Safari, and am a bit worried about actually being able to get one. Is there a precedent for them selling out in minutes / seconds / hours? I plan to place an order ASAP with the Goulets...if I can. :(

 

No worries: this will be around for months and months. In the past, even the popular annual editions have seemed to last for close to the full year. All official Lamy dealers will have stock, not just one, and dealers will reorder if they run out. Keep in mind that the Safari annual editions aren't limited by number. Lamy can manufacture these to meet demand, and I suspect they do.

 

Also, in a lot of cases, it really pays to wait and see what a pen looks like, either in person or at least in photos by actual customers.

I have in fact been considering doing a pre-order. But I have to decide from where, because there are some inks I want to get as well -- and not everyone stocks the same brands. And after seeing the thread where someone put up scans of the new 2016 Edelstein Ink *and* the new Lamy color to go with the Dark Lilac pens, I want to be ordering from somewhere I can at *least* get a sample first.

My local pen store is showing the Safari under their "just in" section as well as pictures that are not the stock / promo ones - along with a full size bottle of the Lilac ink... Has anyone got the pen yet? Mine are ordered from the Netherlands, so I imagine an April delivery sort of thing.

A couple of places are listing it as being in stock. But at full MSRP.

I've got a query in at one e-seller, for a notification when they're in stock. Which is not *quite* a pre-order....

I pre-ordered. I like the color. I'll have to stop getting suckered in by pens sometime. Some other time.

Lamy has informed me that the pens will not be available for shipment until about April 15th..

Which is a shame- I was hoping to have them for the Atlanta Show!

Canada is running ahead of the pack (for a change).

 

We have a saying in Aus - we don't care where we come, so long as we beat New Zealand.

Perhaps the Canadian version should be - we don't care where we come, so long as we beat the US ( which I understand happens regularly with ice hockey)

Not wanting to start up international sporting flame wars, though...

A woman working in one of 'my' stores said that they knew nothing about the Dark Lilac :huh: That they get regular updates from Lamy, but nothing about the new Safari. I hope it won't be somehow limited to certain regions of the world... Charged Green Al-Star and Apple Green Safari can be bought without much hassle.

OMG! That purple / Lilac is beyond amazing! I ordered several packs of cartridges but having a bottle or two would be so much better!!!! How did you get the gold effect?

There was a bit of a problem during the last Olympics, IIRC -- at least here in the Pittsburgh area, because our top players went and played for their countries' teams.... :lol:

I don't know how long they last. I do know that fountain pen hospital and Goulet pens are sold out. I ordered one through Apellboom
