Kobe (神戸市 Kōbe-shi) is the sixth-largest city in Japan and is the capital city of Hyōgo Prefecture. It is located on the southern side of the main island of Honshū, on the north shore of Osaka Bayand about 30 km (19 mi) west of Osaka. With a population around 1.5 million, the city is part of the Kyoto-Osaka-Kobe metropolitan area along with Osaka and Kyoto. Its name comes from "kanbe" (神戸), an archaic title for supporters of the city's Ikuta Shrine. Kobe became one of Japan's 17 designated cities in 1956.

Kobe is famous for its shirines and nioce architecture but among fountain pen and ink afficionados the name Kobe cause increased heart-rate. The city is a home of Nagasawa-Kobe stationery shop that offers incredible lione of more than fifty inks made by Sailor.

My master - plan is to prepare comparison of full line of Nagasawa-Kobe inks. Not an easy task as they're not the most obtainable inks on the market, but hopefully I'll manage to do it :)

At the moment Nagasawa-Kobe offers 52 inks:

Suma Purple is dark purple ink suitable for everyday use even for those who don't feel comfortable while using colors different than black and blue in public :) It looks dark and formal. I like this ink. It seems I'm keen on dreary purples.

Thanks for the review. Think I'll pass on this one -- it reminds me of Herbin Pousièrre de Lune,

which I didn't like when I tried it.

Claudia can have it.... All of it....

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Gorgeous. I also really enjoy muted, dark purples.

Thank you.

This looks like a darker version of Tamon purple.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Create a Ghostly Avatar and I'll send you a letter. Check out some Ink comparisons: The Great PPS Comparison

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

Tamon and this are so close to Ink of the Witch that in dim lighting, it's hard to tell them apart.

I used Tamon and gave it away, Ink of the Witch is MUCH darker. This is Tamon Grey.

what is the water resistance of this ink? I am looking for a dark purple to use in fine nibs. But i need it to be at the very least water resistant. And, of course, safe to use. It will be used in a Conid bulkfiller.

Thanks for the review. :) I hadn't paid attention to this Kobe ink previously, but I think I might get a bottle as a Poussière de Lune replacement when that one runs out. (Though perhaps I should use my Tamon Purple first. :P)

I was once a bottle of ink, Inky Dinky Thinky Inky, Blacky Minky Bottle of Ink!

Hi Vis,

How is the water resistance of this ink?

BTW, In your index, the link for #41 Suma Rikyu Rose actually leads to #38 Kitanozaka Night Blue.....just a little bug:)

I have had my eye on this ink for a couple of years and finally acquired a bottle.

Oh frabjous day! On Rhodia, there is no ink I would place above this one. Kobe #9 is a wonderful, deep, dusky purple.

On Midori and Tomoe River, the purple is more difficult to see. I might as well be using dark brown or black. However, it might just be that my pen is too wet for subtlety. I look forward to trying this ink with narrower and drier nibs.

This looks like a clear winner. That sheen even put a smile of my face!

Yes. If I could have only two inks, this would be one of them.

Out of curiosity, what would the other color be?
