:) Great idea but I don't think I could sleep at night  .

Can I cheat a little? I have a drawing of my favourite pen, I drew it a long time ago, but it's still my favourite . . . just.

http://www.taskyprianou.com/fpn_vhs_nib_sketch.jpg

I look at this now and dislike how it's drawn. Strange what a couple of years can do.

Visconti Homo Sapiens, EF

Ink - "Sepia Grey Black" 3 R&K Sepia, I Diamine Grey, I Noodler's Black.

Paper - Seawhite of Brighton

Love the ink, love the pen...especially the nib treatment!

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

@Pterodactylus - Sure, you can participate. Pick one of your top three (or ten, or 50) faves!

Ok Snowbear, here it is :D

Nobody said that it has to be a fountain pen. :bunny01:

Week 6 ~ a key ~ in this case it's the key that was to my grandmother's old writing desk. Grannie & the desk are long gone but ...yeah, I still have the key and it currently resides on my desk.

Drawn using a Sailor 1911S, (F) with Sailor Jentle ~ Yama-dori

Tas ~ seriously...As I.M said, just hop on the train anywhere you want.

If you want to draw the other items go ahead, but that's not neccessary and you are not expected to. The only hard and fast rule is that you don't post drawings 'ahead' of the theme week.

Look at me. I MAKE the list and skipped last week because I had other things to do and was not going to sweat it...too much.

Here Tas...I'll cheat with you. I already drew some of my favourite pens for Fountain pen day in November ;) (yes...I am an Estie-addict)

Pterodactylus ~ Love the pencil !! :D

SNAK ~ ...yeah there is so much I love I have for your drawing...and the pens in that collection.

Snowbear ~ that's the spirit! Like the riddle as much as I do the sketch...either that or you are covering up your OCD really well :D

Sailor Kenshin ~ wrinkley paper just adds depth! :D

**Just wanted to say that I am thrilled that this thread is taking on a life of its own with you guys and gals enthusiastically participating. It's a busy month but you are all making time for your pens that is fantastic. Thank-you for all your sharing!

No OCD. I like a little local history, now and then. I am (now) a geographer so sometimes history goes hand and hand with what I do.

Love the Esties.

This week I'll have to "fake it." We don't really have any festive food, but I know what I want to draw. I'll find some reference photos and go from there.

I suppose I should have added, for you younger generations, that this is a church key.

Ok so now I am officially in panic mode, with windows yet to be washed and silvers not at all polished, garden needs tidying up and the kids are making huge mess as I type. And the relo's will start showing up on Wednesday! I still have cooking and marinading and stuff to do... :gaah:

Anyway, I did do the pencil drawing of my keys earlier on (hoping that I would be organised), and then stopped as I contemplated whether I would try my untested ink wash or stick with comfortable watercolour wash. Now it's been left as it is for a little while and I don't think I can finish it in the next few days so I am putting it up anyway. I will hopefully come back to it and work on it later (or maybe I won't). :P

#6 Keys (Pencil drawing only at this stage)

Yes, the bridge is the last Key. Interesting that you'r family (and you) lived in Baltimore, because that is also related to the bridge. It is the Francis Scott Key bridge, which spans the Potomac River between Rosslyn, Virginia and Washington, DC at Georgetown. For those that aren't familiar, Francis Scott Key (from Georgetown) was a lawyer. During our War of 1812, the British Royal Navy occupied the port of Baltimore. Key was on one of the ships, helping negotiate a prisoner release/exchange when the Royal Navy bombed Fort McHenry (1814). Key was also an amateur poet and wrote Defence of Fort M'Henry which ultimately became The Star Spangled Banner, our National Anthem.

Thanks for the very interesting historical trip, snowboard.

When we lived in Baltimore I was in Kindergarten to 3rd grade or something, and I only mostly remember places around our house, school, the Giant supermarket and the harbour and the aquarium. :)

Okay...

Keys. On old, thin, wrinkly journal paper that takes fountain pen ink surprisingly well. Even does washes. Used two different pen/ink combos: a sailor Clear Candy with Kobe Indigo, and a Hero Youth with Noodler's Henry Hudson, which I used mainly for the outlines. Didn't erase my pencil lines, but they probably don't even show.

I like this journal. It's got a nice, nostalgic feel. My mother got me two different packs of them from a mail-order catalogue, and this is the last one, and it's about a quarter-full.

Ohh nice on Kenshin! I love the effect of your ink line and your paper's ruled line being the same colour.

Wow Tas that's absolutely gorgeous. The details on the nib as well as the shine and shadow on it are amazing.

Lovely wash of Yamadori, it's one of my favourite inks. Your drawings always look so 3D!

I too have an old key with sentimental value to me on my keyring. It's a key to an old outhouse and laundry that came with the house we bought. We used the bathroom in the house but there was no space for laundry so we used the outside laundry until we knocked down and rebuilt our current house. I have (not so) fond memories of carrying laundry baskets outside in the heat and the cold and the rain, when my oldest son was still a baby (lots of newborn washing I had to do). So the key still stays on my keyring.

I see (from your other comments too) that you are an Esterbrook fan. :) Me too! My favourite is a big fat left oblique (relief) 9314-B.

I like the very very fine lines you used in the shadow areas!

I suspect that the "younger" generations know the terminology quite well -- how else do you think they open their beer bottles? ;)

A. CHURCH. KEY.

Of COURSE! ....boy I am slow on the uptake. Thank-you SNAK for the thump on the memory bank in regard to Inkfillet's drawing (sneaky that)...and I like your sketch. Seriously...I figured most of this month would be a bust due to holiday madness. I'm impressed by the action in here :D

Inkstainedruth ~ alas most are twist-off caps. Even Wine is going that route..

Not the beers I buy.... Okay, some of them do, but I tend to not have a lot of strength in my hands. And I'm betting that hipsters don't drink anything but micros.

True.

We don't drink alcohol often but we do cook with it. Some of out utensils are in storage after a couple of moves to smaller places, My lovely wife was braising a roast and decided to toss in a bottle of a local beer we had. It was not a twist-off and we didn't have an opener, so we used a pair of pliers. We got an opener the next day.

I don't do much festive for holidays, since it's just me and the 2 dogs, and 2 cats.

Bamboo pen with Zebra Comic G/ Sumi ink for drawing, Sheaffer calligraphy pen for onion, aquash for messed up shadow.

Nice job on the onion.

I've gathered a few things and will set up and photo them tomorrow. Our kids are grown and we don't need to be at Mom-in-law's until afternoon so I've got some time in the morning. Son number one's girlfriend is due in from OK next week, so we'll celebrate the presents thing when she gets here.

I bought myself a little something today, with funds I received as a gift. It is a pen and some ink, and I might sketch and post later on.

I love Pterodactylus' pencil since it's so realistic and yet also atmospheric. I also like Inkfillet's bottle opener because it's nice to see artwork with a style similar to mine.

I've had loads of delicious Christmas food and a busy day (and couple of weeks) so it was great to finally sit down this evening with a glass of whisky and nothing to do. So I got out my trusty Platinum Carbon Pen and some keys to catch up on some drawing.

#6 Keys.

My usual:

- Pencil sketch (today, a Pentel Sharp Kerry since it's great for travelling).

- Platinum Carbon Pen and Ink

- Moleskine pocket sketchbook.

I was far too relaxed to take any step-by-step photos. I really appreciate seeing others taking lots of photos, so hopefully I'll remember to do it at some point.
