Bubbles In Plastic?

Hi guys,

I recently purchased a TWSBI 580al and it is great.

I inked it up and I noticed that there are few clear "bubbles" along the barrel.

They are fixed, that is, they don't vanish if I shake the ink in the pen.

I am wondering if they are air bubbles within the plastic or something else.

What do you think?

Not a big deal, just curious.

Do they stay put when the plunger moves past them?

Well, I thought about that. I'll check careful once I run out of ink.

If they move, there's something in the inner surface of the barrel and I can probably remove it by flushing the pen more carefully (maybe it's just silicone grease?).

If they don't move... they are bubbles within the plastic and there's nothing I can do.

I'll post the outcome...

I have a similar thing with Diamine Registrar's.

Strongly suggest that Iron-Galls should go with converter, last time I fill them in my ECO, and found my pen almost ruined by it.

It takes time to use 2ml of ink on an extrafine nib!

Anyway, even though I did not run out of ink yet, I believe it is some residue on in the inner surface of the barrel because the "bubbles" got colored with the ink color.

I have a TWSBI Diamond 580 in Red. The bubble is between the threads on the plunger and the plunger itself. It's just below the threads. It's possibly a bit of silicone, but I am not going to take the pen apart just to find out if that is true.

Peace and Understanding

Yes, I found the silicone dots to be distracting, but I haven't seen any bubbles in the plastic, and I own a bunch of TWSBIs.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).
