Parker Penman Sapphire And Sailor Bungbox Sapphire

I have been on a perennial search for a PPS replacement & have tried so many inks and recipes to duplicate it. Some are close, but not close enough. But I think my search is finally over!

Ordered a bottle of Sailor's BungBox Sapphire from VanNess and am running it in two pens. It is amazing! I have writing samples, as well as a small stash remaining of PPS, so I have compared them. Virtually indistinguishable.

The only thing missing is the occasional sheen, but I need to try it on better paper and in a wetter nib.

It was a pricey bottle, but worth it, to me. :)

As I have said elsewhere this morning, Noodler's Liberty's Elysium is also an excellent replacement for PPS.

My own experience with Liberty's Elysium is that it has too much of a turquoise tint to be a replacement for PPS. I bought a bottle based upon someone's recommendation shortly after I joined FPN and read some of the threads about PPS replacements. I also mixed up your recipes, which I thought were closer to PPS than Liberty's Elysium. It's a really nice ink, but not the right color.

I haven't tried it in a F nib pen, so maybe it looks closer to PPS in those nibs. But for B nibs, or Japanese BB nibs, it reminds me more of Iro Kon-Peki or Diamine Asa Blue than PPS.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

OMG, 21 pages!

Are you still looking for samples or is the 'winner' NLE? (I have Liberty's Elysium and in my pens it looks to me too turquoise to match PPS) I always felt PRAB was pretty close. I will look through the 21 pages later when I have more time to see if anyone did Sailor's Bungbox Sapphire. I still have 2.5 bottles of PPS left, so I use it sparingly and was using PRAB mixed with PRDCSSB (5:1 ratio) as a stand-in. But not bothering anymore, am really liking Bungbox Sapphire as a replacement.

Yes, we have some more coming so we'd love some written samples. Right now, you can participate in either part - you can write pages with the Bung Box or the PPS and then I'll send them off to other people.

OK! I will send both PPS and Bung Box. Will use the same pen, too, to help standardize things.
