Hello Mr. Kandan,

thank you for yet another group buy for the Ranga pens.

thank you Mr. Vaibhav for presenting all the options and keeping track of status!

I have been somewhat busy and only just realized that the model 5 is on offer, this is a big pen!

My request

  • Finish - Polished
  • Standard Ebonite, mottled brown (NOT as in image #1, I mean the standard striped brown colour)
  • shape rounded
  • Nib Option : JoWo Nib, Gold Color Mono tone, size B
  • filling system : Schmidt K5 Converter
  • Payment I will send 65 usd paypal, to Mr. Kandan as usual

on the occasion, I wish to thank for the model 3 (previous group buy)
of which I attach a few pictures (useful to see the mottled green colour, very nice rich green)

many thanks and regards

PS

this is the mottled brown colour requested as in other Ranga production (first pen on the left) with obvious pattern/colour slight variation depending on the rod used.

thank you!

I can finally put in my request for the Number 5 Clear Acrylic - matte interior - clipless - 40mm Ambitious nib upgrade.

Only issue is whether to have flat or rounded ends ??

KEEP CALM AND BOOGIE ON!

SILENCE IS GOLDEN, BUT DUCT TAPE IS SILVER.

Fair enough recommendation from someone who knows the pens :)

Is the distinction an aesthetic or functional issue? Or both or neither?

Just wondering, hence my original dilemma . . .

I love my Ranga 3 in the bakul finished ebonite (have received lots of compliments too). With this pen, the clear matte is the allure, since most demonstrators are shiny inside and out. The Ranga 5 would be distinctive :)

May be irrelevant in the case of a very large pen, but one detail that sometimes occurs is that when a pen is produced to a certain length, the flattop style may tend to maintain the diameter of the barrel all the way to the end of the barrel. If the barrel, on the other hand, has a rounded end, the diameter my start to decrease well before the end of the barrel so that the rounded end is not too abrupt.

I like the Model 3 because it does not give up any (or much) girth before the flat end of the barrel (its sides are pretty straight). However, I ordered a Model 5 with rounded ends (shiny black -- haven't rec'd it yet but it is on the way). The barrel is long enough so that its decrease in diameter toward the rounding of the barrel end should have no effect (or at least not much) on the way the pen feels in the hand.

Perhaps another feature to consider in the demonstrator is the appearance of the solid acrylic "bubble" at the end of the barrel -- flattop vs. rounded.

Anyway, I'm sure you'll be happy with what you choose. Good luck.

Does anyone know if Franklin Christoph nibs will fit on a Ranga 4c? EoC has a 4c inbound but would like to get his first ever Masuyama grind for it as an alternative nib - and also to start down that other rabbit hole of customised nibs!

Edit: the Ranga has #6 Jowo.

Thanks for the feedback :)

Based on Mr. K's photo and your comments, I will go with the rounded ends.

(Of course the cap will be clear acrylic rather than black)

I love that area below the threads has a frosty interior where the ink resides, but smooth at the solid bottom. That contrast is very attractive to me. Around the nib/feed is also smooth, which is good. The whole alternating smooth/frosty interior/smooth looks good in the picture. Substitute a clipless clear acrylic cap with matte/frosty interior.

Perfect pen for the approaching winter!

In that vein, it would be so awesome to be able to use the complete FC music nib/feed unit in one of these beauties. Of course I totally understand it's all about the inner diameter and/or threading incompatibility.

But a girl can dream, right?

@mpkandan. Sorry to ask you this in public forum. But how is thiruvallur. In the recent deluge in Chennai, people seemed to have forgotten about the nearby districts and forgot Thiruvallur is almost wiped off the map. I hope you are safe
