The photo for Regular Ebonite #1 is not at all what I expected from the words "mottled brown"!

Other photos of mottled brown Ranga pens (such as on the Peyton Street Pens site) show a mixture of brown and black, and the brown color looks "warmer" and less green than the color in the first photo.

Mr. Kandan, can you confirm whether or not the photo shows what one can expect if mottled brown is ordered? Does this stock of mottled brown normally include a more even balance of brown and black, and is the brown color the same as is typically found in the brown ripple? I realize there is always variation in this material, but if the color is truly as is shown in the photo, I wonder if I should opt for the brown ripple or an entirely different color.

Can anyone with firsthand experience of mottled brown and brown ripple Ranga pens help me figure out what to expect? Also does anyone have an opinion of mottled brown in the bakul finish rather than the polished version?

Thank you to all who can share their opinions and impressions!

Mark

Mottled brown is with mix of black ... which is not uniform... it depends on the cut of the rod....

also ripple brown as consistency of black ripples in the rod.... it is more uniform... i will show you comparison in the post below...

Thank you for the photos, Mr. Mehandiratta! These are the patterns I was expecting. I will check with Mr. Kandan about how much black to expect in the mottled brown before placing my order.

Do your photos show mottled brown and brown ripple, or are these the olive brown varieties? I have a Ranga 2D in olive brown and like it very much, but I don't want to duplicate the color for the Ranga 5.

I must admit I have red/green colorblindness, so I'm not very confident in how to interpret some shades of some colors, though I must do my best. I'm being very cautious now about deciding on a color for a pen as large as a Model 5. When I see a photo like the one below (from Peyton Street Pens), I think, "Yes! I want that!" though this seems a richer color than I find in most photos of brown ebonite.

http://www.peytonstreet.com/pens/ranga/ranga5_brownmot_smooth.jpg

If the brown ebonite colors for the Model 5 is even similar to this shade of brown, then my decision will be easy! Shades of brown with more green or yellow can sometimes, but not always, be much less appealing.

So, with the understanding that there will always be variation in personal tastes and in specific samples of ebonite, does anyone care to share their own subjective reactions to the mottled brown and brown ripple pens they've seen?

Thanks for any input!

For the ED versions, would the Ambitious 35 and 40 mm nib versions share a common section and feed?

Thanks

Yes Sir. They share the common section and feed.

PLEASE NOTE THAT Mr. Kandan will send you the invoice of the same soon as a PM

with paypal address.

OK, Thank you!

And don't worry, please, I didn't mean to hurry you at all... It was only a cheerful comment! (I can perfectly wait for the pen without any problem...) We all appreciate what you are doing, dedicating your time to organise this group buy and finally sending all the packages... That's a hard work!

Apart from this, please, I would like to kindly ask you for a color change in my order, if it's still possible...

I would like my pen to be premium ebonite *solid orange*, instead of yellow/black... Thank you!
