This came in recently from my favorite dealer in Germany, some real life pictures:

Outer Box:

Cover of the inner box, there is a tray inside that slides out:

The complimentary 60ml bottle of Pelikan Royal blue with a reproduction label, the pen comes in this white PVC pen pouch:

The pouch and the booklet:

The PVC pouch, a really cheap feeling item, I am not sure why Pelikan decided to put something of such a pathetic quality inside this box, they could have simply omitted this:

The pen:

The clip hang tag:

I feel the Yellow ink view window gels nicely with the color scheme of the pen.

The Piston seal:

The Cap logo:

Pelikan stamped above the clip:

A closeup of the Binde:

Some thoughts about the pen:

I like the pen, the way the red and the Binde and the Gold trim have come together.

A plain red modern 101 would be wonderful to have.

I have the 101N Brown tortoise, I like that one, I did not like the Lizard enough to buy one even though some attractive price incitements were there, this is again a good one, but I had to gather the funds to buy it nearly an year after release, but YMMV in these matters.

Cheers!

Hari

Such a beautiful pen. One of the very best red pens I have seen in a long, long time. Congratulations on this addition to your collection. Thanks for sharing.

This is one of my favorites. I too had to save up a bit for that one. I love the look and have no issues with smaller pens. Congrats on adding it to your flock!

Very nice! I shied away from it but now I really like it. The yellow ink window rocks!

I was hot and cold about this one, so put in a somewhat low bid to Regina on ebay yesterday, and woke up this morning to discover that I had one it, so will probably be seeing one in about a week to ten days.

Thanks, I chose a F nib as my 101 brown tortoise is a B.

All these links led me to eventually land on Souveran M400 White Tortoise Shell and my heart melted. Maybe Christmas.

Mine arrived today. The "PVC" pouch or whatever synthetic, really does not feel cheap to me, It's a nice touch for packaging and does offer some protection to the pen but I agree it is not truly necessary.

It's a nice little pen, no surprises for me as it is physically identical to my 101N brown tortoise . I wonder why they did not make the body of the cap in the tortoise material like they did with the brown tortoise.

Oh, all these red tortoises! And mine arrived the day-before-yesterday, too! Nib: fine and sooooo smooth! Despite my predilection to flex, this nib is lovely to use and there is a suspicion of tenderness about it: certainly one can find some line variation. Do you agree, Hari and jkingrph? Congrats on yours, too, by the way!

PS: Beautiful pictures, hari! Far better than anything I could manage!

Congrats Hari. I was trying to locate the brown one earlier and have occasionally flirted wit the idea of getting the red. However wasn't sure how it would look - a red cap popping out of my shirt pocket.....

I'd be interested to know, incase you ink it - what ink would you use....??

I have been using mine for a little over a week now, loaded with Diamine Syrah ink, The fine nib is as smooth as anyone could ask for, and lays down a generous wet line. It pushed me over the edge and I went ahead and ordered a Lizard;
