Hello From Portugal

Hi!

I am a 30-something from Portugal and in the last months I have revived my love for fountain pens. I am presently into cheap pens to use daily with little worry that I will lose them and am pleasantly surprised with them as writing implements. Not only writing is more pleasant but my handwriting looks better as well.

I was writing my history with fountain pens here (from childhood fascination from afar to finally using them daily in the last few months), but it got so long that I removed it for a later post ;)

Glad to be here!

Welcome, FP Lady !

I have several very expensive fountain pens. However, I am fascinated by budget-priced fountain pens suitable for students and field work.

I really like the vintage, lever-fill pens of the 1950's and 1960's that were "student" pens. I can acquire them for about 10€ each. Some Chinese-made fountain pens for 4€ or less include

Jinhao x250, Jinhao x500, Jinhao 159, and HERO 266 . Recently, the Jinhao x450 has appeared on Ebay for 1€ (with free shipping). There are others, but, I have found these to function well.

Welcome! I know you will enjoy your pens as we do.

As a child I attended school in Carcavelos. Looking forward to a reunion next spring. I won't tell how many years..lol..anyway, good to have you in the group.

Hi and thanks for the warm welcome!

I do not know (nor have) any portuguese FP brands.

I have a couple of Rotrings from the 1990s (an Altro which I used at the time and had left forgotten and a 400 which was a gift and I haven't tried yet), two plastic Inoxcroms and a plastic Walter (NOS, possibly from the early 1990s as well) that I bought recently for a couple of euros each at a small brick-and-mortar shop, two promotional pens with no visible brand and a couple of Parker 15.

Will look into the forums. I would like to get into journal writing, as I feel the need to take some time to ponder/examine my days, but I have been too much in a hurry for that.

For now, I am enjoying the feel of writing with FP, and looking into getting a syringe to refill cartridges.
