Wow - you have an amazing stash of things. Would love to learn if these were sourced from the factory.

 

Yes, but not Matador. The clips stemmed from E.E. Koenig who had been a former worker at Matador`s. Koenig went off and founded Mercedes Pens during 1925. They used the same source for fp parts. Metal parts normally had not been made in-house and I am pretty sure that these clips had been made by HOMACO in Leimen/ Germany. There is no imprint, so the same clips could be sent to different pen makers, where the brand could be stamped.

That makes total sense. I always wondered why the snake clip design was so common, across different brands too.

Hello,

just another eye candy, new Matador "Turbo" found it's way to my pen box: 922 size in black celluloid.There was a problem with filling system but I had original Matador mechanism to replace. Also nib was too small, "1" size and had to be replaced with bigger one. By the way, I wonder what's the rule of pen models numbering and nib sizing system in Matador, for me it's a little confusing: number "4" is size "6", "2" looks like "4"...There's also a clip snake-head worth taking a closer look at: very detailed and quite scarry

Very nice pen, congrats.

 

Are you sure it's celluloid? The pen looks exactly like my 921 which is entirely made of HR:

 

 

And the numbering system of the pen does definitely say nothing about the nib size.

Hello Christof,

yes, the pen is celluloid, only captop and turning knob is ebonite.The size of the pen is estimated: I have 921 turning knob which is too small (10,4) and 924 (12,6) turning knob- too big for this filler.I measured the size with help of Markiv measurement of his 922 and my pen barrel is 12 mm.It is hard to judge Matador pens by nib sizes though.

Althought I bought this pen in Germany, in Krakow earliest newspaper advertisements of Matador Turbo date back to 1932 (in 1931 a Matador factory/assembly was registered in Krakow) In those advertisements pen material is depicted as "unbreakable", word usually used for celluloid properties at that time.

Your pen, Christof may be even older.

No, this one came from Germany but it's fact that Matador had some sort of subsidiary in Krakow, check this out, it's from a "Jahrbuch der Industrie und des Handels in Polen".What's interesting, even though we had our "factory" doesn't mean Matador pens are more popular here.

And to revive the thread: Matador window stand.It is made in 3d cardboard relief, letters goldplated. Each piece of the pen itself is made in colored cardboard very precisely glued to the background.

There is a cardboard hinge behind that allows it to hang on the wall or stand in the display.
