Precise

Recommended Posts

Here are a few

Jinhao 599 (18g) Plastic safari type, not everyones' cuppa.

Baoer 3035 (28g) Well styled "slimmish" pen.

Baoer 388 (24g) excellent Sonnet "homage"

Hero 77 (29g) Lovely pen with a semi-hooded nib.

Wing Sung 590 (24g) a behemoth of a pen, huge but extremely reliable.

baoer 801 // 027 blue and 508 --28gr (519 and 3040 --32gr)

I got one of those black X450 for a buck. Nice pen for the money, but insanely heavy. Capped it's over 40g I think. Cap clicks ok and is air tight, a plus.

To me, even a Lamy Studio or 2000 are a bit heavy. I really prefer lighter pens. The Safari or AL-star weight are great. I also like the feather weight of the Esterbrook LJ and Reform 1745. I guess a body of 20 grams, well distributed (unlike Lamy 2000 which is bottom heavy) is the maximum I feel comfortable with.

I'm trying to order light Chinese pens, I only managed to get the Hero homages to Parker, still waiting for them. I don't want to buy the NOS pens, I want something made currently.

It's not easy to find all resin pens in the West either. Lamy only has the Safari in this department. I should get a Pelikan. I will also eventually buy a Franklin-Cristoph or Edison. Otherwise, we can get resin pens from Japan or from luxurious brands.

If you like the weight of a Lamy Safari, try a transparent Jinhao 599. They also come with brass barrels, so you might avoid those.
