I got an odd-lot of pens and parts today and a Sheaffer desk pen with two tone FeatherTouch nib was included. I'm not well versed in Sheaffer models, filling systems, dating, etc.

Any help or comments would be appreciated. I did take it apart for cleaning and inspection and removed the stiff ink sac and it looks in pretty good shape overall. There is also a very small white dot towards the tail of the pen.

Is the metal cylinder that screws on over the section to accommodate the desk base?

What sac size is appropriate?fpn_1444780907__sheaffer_desk_pen_223.jp

All help and comments are appreciated. Thanks

The pen would appear to be a TM TD Sovereign from ~'51 in which case a no.15 sac will fitl. It will most likely also need an o-ring replaced in the back end of the barrel. The metal bit is the inside of the tulip. The small WD you see is probably just some muck in a hole that helps the TD to work (assuming it's on the barrel), a WD model would have the WD on the tail piece and this model should not have one. There is an earlier TD model that takes a bigger sac (no.17).

Thanks of that information...much appreciated HH. I do see a small hole in the barrel that is clear. The WD is definitely a WD and it is on the tail piece. As for the metal cylinder ("inside of the tulip" as you mentioned -- am I correct in thinking then that when the pen is put into the base/tulip that it is screwed in to keep a somewhat air tight seal when not in use? Thanks

Yes, it screws in. The TM TD barrel is ~10mm if that helps. I'm suspecting a mix of parts or it's the earlier fatter model with a nib replacement ??
