YAY! Finally I won one! I've lost many auctions by less than a dollar, its always a heartbreak.

 

And to rub a bit more salt in the wound, I won it at my max bid. If you had bid one more penny, I'd have lost it to you.

I know. I spent hours thinking that I should have bid just a little higher, but, to be honest, I'm glad I didn't, I don't like personalized pens and after a while I'd be still looking for a plum and we know where it ends...

I have mixed feelings about the personalized pens also. Generally they are worth less. Personalizations must have been common in the forties and fifties. When I had a lot of 51s I would sometimes replace the barrel on a personalized pen. It's hard to do that with a plum. I bid on a plum barrel once, and it went over a hundred dollars if I remember it correctly. The hood went high too.

 

Too bad I didn't bid high enough on both. I could have made myself a plum.

 

The one I eventually got sits in a pen case.
