New Australian Made Fountain Pens Available For Review

Shame it's a brass bodied pen. That makes it too much like those heavyweight Chinese pens. I don't get on with them, or indeed any of the weightier pens made. Any chance that element could change, following reviews?

It is very possible that some changes may be made following the reviews. But the Axiom was always destined to be a heavy pen and it's not likely we'll be changing the weight drastically.

We have made another prototype made with carbon composite that's 35g capped and 20g uncapped which is much less than the Axiom but still perhaps a bit heavy for those who like lightweight pens. It's a completely different design to the Axiom though and we're still figuring out how to handle the carbon composite. The next prototypes we release will probably be brass and copper and I'm afraid they'll be about the same weight as the Axiom. The carbon composite looks very nice when finished and doesn't need a resin coating like the woven carbon fiber but it's nasty stuff to work with. Brass and copper however are very easy to work with and very clean. And the pens look great even at the first prototype stage.

Sounds like exciting times ahead B)

I look forward to seeing (and maybe even reviewing) your pens in the future Kevin!

Very nice looking pens. I advise contacting Ed Jelley, Brad Dowdy, Mike Dudek, SBRE Brown, Dan Smith as some good people to get your pens to.

That's a great idea and I may contact them when these reviews are in. But those guys are given a lot of pens to review and I thought it would be nice to give some pens away to 'ordinary' fountain pen users who don't have a blog and don't get given many pens.

Pens were posted today by International Registered Mail to India, Canada and the US. There's no tracking but a signature is required on delivery.

Australia Post estimate 3 - 10 working days.

The Australian pens went by Parcel Post, also 3 - 10 working days.

The ink samples I promised may be a week or two away. We're still finalizing a few minor issues.

Look forward to reading all about the fun everyone has with their new pens. Sounds like some inky goodness is wafting in the wings too. Love the look of the external finishes, especially the faux leather. It is so great to see a quality offering at a good price right here in the Aussie market. (I do wish I liked heavy pens though.)

Our 'Heavy Metal' series will most likely be the next model up for review. These pens are machined from a solid bar of metal and will look something like this.
