Noodler's King Philip Requiem

Purchased one of the few bottles available at the Dallas Pen Show. Love the color. Not so much the staining. Filled a Neponset on Sunday and by Monday evening it had stained the converter. It is not the end of the world for the converter but I know to be careful with the ink.

I've had it in a TWSBI Diamond 580 fsince Friday at the show. Changed the ink today as I don't feel it had the lubrication the 580 was wanting. I changed to PR Burgandy Mist. The window was not stained. It may be the difference in plastics.

Peace and Understanding

Wow...okay. Now I am going to consider myself stupid lucky because samples of all three shades arrived in the post today, from a fellow inkaddict, who attended the show. Thar shall be Commonwealth trees :)

Does anyone want to send me a sample???? I'll send happy thoughts and something from my inky stash to share.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I got a bottle at the Commonwealth Pen Show. It's a great color, in my mind it registers as very similar to former Montblanc's Violet. I have it in the Charlie Pen that came free with the ink along with a long glass eyedropper (the Charlie pen is now permanently stained but it's a rubbery pen), and in a Sailor PG with a plastic cartridge. Although it tends to feather on cheap papers, it's a great ink and easy to read.

It's too easy to get PO'd at Nathan. It's not that he's like 'one of the Big Boys' (although he has attained a great stature in his own right) that make LEs according to the Supply and Demand curves of economics and don't have to be bothered keeping them in the production mode. Nathan made what he could with the supplies at-hand and generously supported the pen show. I believe the same fate befell Legal Lapis wrt the raw ingredients needed to manufacture it. The more I hear of him the more respect I develop for the man. It's quite an accomplishment to create all the varieties AND coordinate all the marketing necessary to running such an enterprise.

Thank you Nathan

Bear in mind that it's hard to get a scan of this ink looking right. I couldn't with my equipment. Here's a couple of photos with different lighting that may help you sort out what the color really is like. I dripped a little Lavender Purple on Saguaro Wine by accident and blotted it, so ignore that area of Saguaro Wine. Sorry.

It is somehow one of those "just right" inks. Bright but legible, i.e., attention-grabbing but easy on the eyes. As I told Amberlea after I sent her a sample, since it's a bear to clean out, I'm sort of on the prowl to find a match for it in a non-bulletproof form. Saguaro Wine is close, but Saguaro Wine is a little light on the blue component. She mentioned de Atramentis Goat (which I hadn't heard of--I'm not into de Atramentis inks as yet). I was wondering about Rohrer and Klingner Solferino. I doubt any other ink is going to have that even-keel, non-shaded look, though. I do like shading inks, but sometimes it's nice to have an ink that just looks uniform.

I haven't tried Cactus Fruit Eel yet - it's really similar to Saguaro Wine. I'll try that this next week. Thank you, Mike!!!

I can report that it did not stain a Gate City Belmont, which is an acrylic pen, but I don't think I could have gotten it clean in any reasonable amount of time without disassembling it and using an ultrasonic cleaner. Even then, I used dish soap on the barrel and cap (with all the innards removed) and another round in the ultrasonic before I got all of it out. No harsh chemicals needed, though, just the technological equivalent of elbow grease and soapy water.

Actually, that was from the sample from Mike which convinced me that I "needed" this ink.

THANK YOU SID for finding me an entire BOTTLE. I am so in love with this ink and you made it happen for me.
