Calligraphy Pens In India?

Recommended Posts

Hi

I'm looking for calligraphy pens with nib sizes from 0.7mm to 2.5mm. I'm looking for branded pens, not on the luxury side of course, but for regular script writing.

Any ideas where and what to look for?

Do Sheaffer sell their calligraphy sets in India? They're a good, low cost option here in Australia (if you shop around for a good deal). Also Pilot Parallel pens, though they're a little bit unusual...

Sheaffer sets are available here. Rotring Art pens are good. If money is no object try the wonderful Pilot parallel... Flipkart and Amazon are the normal sources...

Sheaffer have a downside, in that they only accept Sheaffer cartridges - but a set normally comes with several cartridges in different colours. And from memory (I don't have a set in front of me) they start at 1mm and go up to 2.4mm. Pilot Parallel I think starts at 1.5mm,and goes up to 6mm.

Parker Vector calligraphy set is available for somewhere around Rs.400. Check Luxor website for Pilot Parallel and Parker.

There are some Indian makes too. Got one named TRIPURA for my daughter for Rs.70. She uses it extensively for her projects and Arabic work (that is compulsory for non Arabs too in UAE). This has 5 sections with different size nibs with built-in converters. Fill each with whatever ink you want and just screw on to the barrel. It's ready to go.

It would be awesome if you could share the link of the store from where you bought it!

I'll check out the luxor website.

Thanks in advance!

Deepak the one I bought was from Honest Pen Hospital at Trichur Kerala when i went there in March. There is an account about this place by one Siddarth. Please check the forum. Perhaps he's at Trichur and he'd be able to help you to get the details if you PM him.

The pen is a 'small scale' make and there may not be any website for them.

Hari has posted Amazon link above.

My daughter has SkyGlory that features on that page. she say's it's poorly built. The section does not fit properly. Cap does not close.

If you got Sheaffer you could fill the ink in empty cartridges with a syringe!! I saw another set from Parker at a stationery store in Trichur that had more nib options.
