Too funny.

What is the plural of False Dichotomies?

"Polychotomy."

But I think you could just say generally "fallacy of the false choice." But that's not the case here, since in each question you have the option of choosing "other."

As I think visvamitra once said, "today's choices" . . .

You should get a Homo Sapiens ;-)

Yes, indeed - today's choices. Could be different tomorrow.

Perhaps I should say... if you're selecting "other" for any answers, which you suspect aren't so idiosyncratic (i.e., if your preferred option were included, you don't think you'd be the only person to click it), then post it in the replies, and if it's within 24 hours, I'll edit the options to include your suggestion.

As for unstable preferences... well, if enough people answer the questions, then the large numbers should reduce noise/fluctuations... results are already interesting...

Interesting set of criteria. I think, though that the categories seem to be skewed more towards modern pens. And most of mine are vintage. Hence I voted for piston as favorite fill system, but celluloid for barrel material. And "other" for entry level pen, because while I like my Pilot Metropolitan a whole lot, *my* entry level choice is a Parker Vector.

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

On posting, I selected "weight", but in fact it is weight if it weighs too much, size if it is too darn enormous and unwieldy, and unsecurely if the dang thing has a tendenacy to fall off.

+1

This is basically how I decide too.

Also, I put Other for Best Special Edition just because I don't own any of those brands let alone the special editions of same. Didn't want to screw the results. :)

The praise of the praiseworthy is above all rewards.
