Make sure to shake your bottle of Walnut before use. See the attached photo. Both writing samples were the same ink from the same bottle. The sample was written on random office paper—quite nice when compared to Staples 20#, but I wouldn't call it "fountain pen friendly". A red undertone can sometimes make an appearance, although that didn't happen this time. On its best days, Walnut has provided a beautiful depth of color and doesn't suffer from Noodler's infamous forever dry time problem.

 

Other than the need to shake before use, my only issue with Walnut is that it often renders the reverse side of the paper useless with, IMO, too much showthrough (even on nicer papers, such as Rhodia). I have not personally experienced the green undertone that OP mentions, but that could be Noodler's infamous inconsistencies between batches issue, or the ever-present disclaimer of different pens/papers/atmospheric conditions/writing styles will yield different results. My bottle is neutral to warm in tone.
