What Pen Did You Get Today?

Conklin Victory set in black, and the free pen that comes with Noodler's Nikita. The fire engine red description really appealed to me, and the free pen sealed the deal. It's also my first experience with an eyedropper pen, and I have to say I'm very intrigued so far, but very nervous too. I like my ink fire engine red, but not my clothes. It's going to be sitting in my pen cup at work for a while, to make any potential messes easier to clean up.

My Bexley America the Beautiful in Mahogany arrived today. What a beautiful pen! Fine nib and writes beautiful right out of the box. I'm thinking I can knock that Grand Place off my wishlist now, this pen is gorgeous enough to satisfy that want.

I had a pen feast today. 3 of my pens, a Parker 51 vac, a Parker 51 aero, and an old Onward, made it back to me today from Ron Zorn, who smoothed the nibs to perfection. Also, my new Pelikan M800 arrived today. I love it!!

Stipula Vedo in Ruby Red. I've filled it with Noodler's SwishMix Antietam.

Yesterday I got a Sheaffer calligraphy pen. I was curious about trying italic nibs, and I figured spending $12 on a calligraphy set might be a good introduction.

I've used the Hero 100 for a while, but today I've just received my first for real Parker 51. Vac fill, 14k gold-filled straight line cap with cedar blue body. Laying down a lush medium line. A pleaure to write with to be sure!

Looking for an Omas Arco Verde...the one that got away.

Lamy Safari and Pilot Capless Decimo, both in F nib, and the inks are the new Diamine Kelly Green and a refill of Aurora Black for myself.

I went out pen shopping today. I found out there are a couple other stores in the area (Columbus, Ohio) that carry fountain pens I hadn't known about before. I was actually looking for a slim fountain pen to use in my planner - something better than the Hero pen I have. A Lamy cp1 is what I had in mind. I ended up with something quite different, but I'm getting ahead of myself.

Peabody's Papers was listed as being a Lamy retailer but all the had were a couple Safaris, an Al-Star and a studio identical to the one I just purchased recently. I think they also had a Waterman or two. They had some really neat stationary, Moleskines, and some Filofax stuff so it wasn't a total let down.

We (my wife and I) ended up going to the Vintage Fountain Pen Company located on North High Street in the Clintonville area. I'm going to post a description of the store in a different post and just describe the pen here... The owner of the store said he does a lot of his business selling this one particular kind of fountain pen. It isn't any brand. Apparently a friend of his imports these fountain pen bodies from Taiwan, nibs made by a German company called Bach, and hand assembles them with a Waterman converter to make a wonderful pen.

It's the best feeling pen to write with I've ever tried, blue body with brass accents and the nib is steel with an iridium tip and all gold-plated to look VERY nice. I decided to buy it after trying the pen and talking to him. He said that he's been using the same pen - one just like it - for over 25 years and never had any problems.

I got two Leonardo pens, one with a fine nib and one with a calligraphy nib. I already had one of these and loved it. So, I got two more. :)

Today during my weekly trip to Dromgoole's I was intent on only buying some ink. However, I walked out of the store with a Conway Stewart Wellington in classic brown with 18kt gold extra fine nib. This extra fine nib writes more like a true fine than extra fine, but I like that. The inkflow from the converter is nice and wet and the nib is extremely smooth. I love the color of the classic brown and will enjoy using this pen.

A Pilot Enzo Verini and a Wing Sung 233. Both seem pretty good so far.

None, I haven't gotten any new pens in a long time. In fact I should say I haven't found any I want at decent prices. I think pen prices on ebay have gone out of control the last month or so. :hmm1:  :(

I'd rather spend my money on pens instead of shoes and handbags.

Well, I didn't get it today, I did just get it working, does that count? Rescued from an antique shop: A #2 Wahl ring top in gold with a deliciously flexy nib. Cute little pen, nib as smooth as a well-oiled baby bottom and all I had to do was flush the nib/feed/section out and put a new sac in it!

Cheers,

What I wonder is where they get all the money!! Who today has loads of money to spend, obviously these people are not from Michigan.

Interesting Tombow. It's a lovely green metallic. Arrived (ebay purchase) with a dried cartridge inside.

Cleaned and loaded and tried it, and I like the feel, but the nib feels scratchy. No, that's not right. The nib sounds scratchy. But it is a very nice pen, so I'll give it a chance.
