I received my black kasuri Pilot capless today :) I didn't take many minutes before it was loaded with a Pilot black ink cartridge and danced on the paper in my journal... Sweet pen! I plan to use this as a daily work horse as it doesn't shout out "look at me I'm a fountain pen!"

They are fantastic pens but don't stray too far from a source of ink, they don't hold much. I have a Richard Binder nib in one of mine and it is a delight to use.

I'd like to hear more from you about the Richard Binder nib, as I'm thinking of getting either a .6 stub or a ItalicFine custom nib. What did you get? How does it perform? Any recommendations?

Kind regards,

Karl

Without wanting to sound evasive it will depend on your writing style. I have both nibs (the 0.6 in a Decimo and the Italifine in a standard VP). They are both fantastic but for my daily use the 0.6 is a little too fine (but is great for when I need to write small), the Italifine is also excellent but suits itself more to my standard writing but be warned - it gets through the ink pretty fast on the Italic side of the nib.

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of nothing at all...

I got a Targa 1006 in sterling with a fine nib--actually it is even finer than my P51. I generally favor older pens, but when I was in high school I bought a black matte Targa with a stainless nib. It got lost in a move, which made me very sad. Almost twenty five years later, I have replaced it... with an upgrade. :cloud9: It is NOS. Nice balance, nice look, nice fine line. I have Sheaffer green ink it to start--good for grading papers, though I'll probably put cartridges in it when I travel.

I got my Black Snorkel Crest back from Ron Zorn yesterday... and I must say he did a wonderful restoration.

*sigh with happiness*

I just won on ebay an Austrian Elite with a 14 k nib. Twist fill. Can't wait to work on it!

Since visiting Austria and Germany a few years ago I have a deep appreciation for all things from those countries (including my Austrian father in law, who is not a thing). The paints/pigments/pencils are better, the paper is better, the cars, the food, the people's hospitality...oh, and the beer!

My latest is a black Parker 51 aero found at a yard sale for a song. I sent it to Richard Binder who breathed life into it. I gave it to my dad, but he found the medium nib too wide, so I traded him a 51 special with a finer nib for it. It's got a few scars, but it's a beauty in my eyes and is writing beautifully with Aurora blue. After writing for so long with Meisterstucks, the 51 seems small, but it's still quite comfortable and well balanced. It brings back fond memories of my first fountain pen - a 51 aero.

Today? A Waterman 100-year burgundy translucent with big gold flex nib. A copper Esterbrook like the one my Mom used to have (and I destroyed - see thread on first pens). And a N.O.S. blue Parker student pen (model 17?) made in England with aeromatic (?) filler.

Must...stop....

I placed an order for a Lamy Safari in charcoal with an italic 1.1 nib, as well as a Pelikan M400 in white/tortoise shell with an F nib. Can't wait for them to arrive! Heard raves about them both, and never tried a German-made FP before, so I'm anxious to try them out =D

On a related note, I also ordered a Parker Sonnet in matte black with chrome trim from someone on eBay, which was marked as shipped last Wednesday, but hasn't arrived yet. I'm getting a bit antsy, but not too much.

Well, the Sonnet arrived. Turns out the M nib is broader than I'd like, so I'm reselling it. As for today, I got a grey Parker 51 and a prussian blue Waterman Carene, both with F nibs, from our very own FPN marketplace. That is to say, I paid for them today, waiting with bated breath for them to arrive. Also still waiting for the Pelikan and Lamy mentioned above... Too many pens in too few days? I certainly think so. No more for me for at least a few weeks! I feel like a bad person already. FPs are wayyyy too addictive! :bonk:

A Parker 61 Capilliary with a broad nib.

I've been trying to get a P61 in good nick at a reasonable price since Christmas. This one was gummed up a bit, but now.. Oh wow. It was worth the wait +++

I have a suspicion my pen buying is over for a couple of months while I experiment with different inks in my other pens.

Regards,

Richard.

Well I technically ordered it yesterday but my latest fountain pen purchase is a Pelikan Souveran M400 with medium nib, coupled with a Pelikan black-blue ink bottle :) Bought it online at a great reliable european supplier. By the way their pre-purchase service has been great! Can't wait for it to arrive! :)

Ordered a Lepine Murano mini FP from Airline International last week; it's on backorder and they are awaiting shipment from France. [A friend had given me one as a birthday present, and I have misplaced it; I felt really guilty when I realized what she spent on it so I decided to replace it, which in MY world means I will find the first one a week after the new one arrives.] Last week I bought a Think rollerball from Ed Hamilton at Century Pens in Chicago while on a business trip; beautiful pen and great man to chat with!

Inoxcrom Caravel with M gold plated steel nib. One of those classic 'black torpedo with gold bits' type of pens. Picked up for the price of a sandwich on eBay. Fired up straight away with small international cartridge full of Quink washable blue with Solv-X and writes very well indeed.
