Just ordered my second Parker 51 Vac (and fourth 51 overall) today! :bunny01:

Got this one today. It's India Black, and a very smooth, wet writer!

Got my 1940 Parker Vac' back from Main St Pens yesterday and inked it up with PR Tanzanite this morning. The pen looks brand new. Ron did a very nice job on it. It also writes very well, nice and smooth with a clean, fine line. It's my first vintage pen, and certainly won't be my last! Kudos to Ron for a beatiful resto job!

I killed my Sheaffer Jade Green Lifetime Balance combo's cap, but I'm not terribly sad because the pen had terrible color. Anyway, I had some other Jade bits -- not Lifetime but otherwise kinda maybe a little bit nicer -- so I built me a new pen using the old pen's guts on the nicer Jade bits. I even swapped the old pen's clip onto the new cap because the new cap's clip was seriously brassed.

Yeah, it's a Frankenpen, what with that Lifetime nib and all, but I don't think I'm going to be terribly upset about it. (Which means, of course, that I'm a terrible person, right?)

(Note to self: Find some new adjectives. :))

Yes, I promise to write a full review very soon. But, in the meantime--even though I got my new Pilot Custom 823 clear demonstrator in a couple of days ago, my ink order finally came in today. This pen writes like "buttah". It is SOOO smooth. I love the way the Waterman Purple ink sloshes around, inside the clear barrel. It has a fair amount of heft to it. And the way this thing fills--very cool. This is my nicest pen to date, so I have a feeling that my pen buying will be on hold for awhile. (15 pens, [not counting the 5 I've given away], and almost that many inks--all in just over 4 months. I'm thinking $800 or so.) My bank account needs the rest. :(

CURRENT STABLE:

(2) Danitrio Tac Carry II / Xezo Architect / (2)(1920's era) Redipoint Flex / Libelle Vortex / Orange LE Pilot VP/ Mont Blanc Classique 144 / Dunhill Sidecar / Pilot 823 Clear Demonstrator / TWSBI 580 / Stipula Passaporto LE / Kaweco Sport WISH LIST:

MB Boheme / Platinum Hammered Sterling Silver / Pelikan M800 (clear demo) / Stipula Da Vinci / Visconti Opera Master / Delta Dolcevita Federico Oversize / Franklin-Cristoph 19 / Franklin-Christoph Model 25 w/ Masuyama nib

An inexpensive blue Sheaffer Triumph Imperial with an inlaid steel medium nib and brushed chrome cap.

In a discussion on Pentrace a week or so ago one person posting a response mentioned he had one of these pens but it did not fit his hand, so it sat unused. I emailed saying if he ever wanted to part with it let me know. He told me to make an offer, we came to terms and the package was sitting on the kitchen island when I got home this evening.

I filled it with Waterman Florida Blue, and it writes just as nicely as the teal model I have had since 2002.

Jim Mamoulides has a nice article on this pen on his website.

A boxed set of eight Rotring rapidographs arrived today from Germany. I'd thought the set was new but they've clearly been used. Everything is in great condition though (just some ink on some plastic parts and one pen that looks like its), so I'm not concerned. I will check the auction to see if they were listed as used, if for no reason other than to remind myself to pay more attention.

Who are the pen shops in your neighborhood? Find out or tell us where they are, at http://penshops.info/

I got these yesterday at the Los Angeles International Pen Show (my first):

Platinum Tang Pattern fine nib fountain pen and ballpoint pen set (Thanks Stan)

olive green Parker 45 with a juicy fat broad nib

and

picked up from the wonderful Dr. Kevin Cheng "the Danitrio Tame-Aka Bokashi-nuri Urushi fountain pen with a juicy broad nib".

Is it bad to just stare at an object  :cloud9: .

I also got to hold some of the wonderful pens Kevin shows pictures of... :puddle:

Thanks to all the vendors at the LA Pen Show. I am hooked!

Waterman Carene Amber Shimmer (M)and Green/Black Pelikan M200 (M). Two days before I got a Parker 45 Black/Chrome w/GT (Broad) and a Pilot Black/GT something or other (not sure of the model) at a garage sale. Since I've joined this forum my FP addiction has escalated. I've purchased 3 Parker 45s with matching mechanical pencils, A marble blue Phileas, A Waterman Harley Davidson FP (Phileas style), a Waterman Kultur, an Esterbrook SJ, a Waterman Carene, the Pilot FP and the Pelikan M200 and I'm awaiting the arrival of a Stardust Gold Waterman Hemisphere. Each purchase, rather than satiating my desire only serves to fuel my addiction. Now that I've got a green Pelikan M200, I want the blue one and the black one. I also want the black Phileas and the marble green one too. I suppose though that there are worst things that I could be addicted to. As far as I know fountain pens have not been known to destroy families and lead to loss of employment but I really need to chill out. Okay, I'll stop right after I get the Cross Verve Merlot FP to match the ballpoint that I already have. :cloud9:

I am checking the Transatlantic progress of my new CS Wellington from Mr Binder, which I suspect will just be pipped at the post by my first "51", which is nearly a ringer for Mr B's The "51" but with a Fine nib..same age and colour.

Just checked...the "51" got away from the US 24hrs & 11mins sooner, so I'd say it's a one-horse race, especially as the Customs are more likely to be interested in the Wellington!

The only slightly puzzling thing on the USPS tracking message re the "51" was that it left "JAF" on 16th....... while the CS left from good ol' JFK the following day.

As far as I can determine JAF is an airport in SRI LANKA :o ..very puzzling when the vendor is in NY!!!!

I can only hope that's a typo!!

BTW, naniwa, I don't know if you've had a rather long wait for your Wellington, but apparently CS had to get a consignment of faulty barrels replaced from UK....let's hope they are now OK ;)

Today i got a Parker Vacumatic in silver pearl on ebay, and also a Parker Vac golden pearl pencil, in a separate auction. They probably need some work, but i got them on the cheap, so I would not be hesistant to try and refurbish them myself.

Looking for my next possible purchase as we speak, much to the chagrin of my pocket book. :crybaby:

Canada sure is cold.
