A MonteVerde Artista from the Pen Place in KC -- I am there now on a vacation of sorts. It was such a thrill to enter a brick-and-mortar pen store again after an absence of four years! :bunny01: Even so, David was kind enough to give me a "repeat customer" discount. I also scored two Rhodia notebooks and a bottle of Waterman black ink -- a bit washed out as black inks go, but I have some stubborn writers at home, and I'm hoping this ink will make a difference.

Just got a Kyoto Truewriter from Levenger off of eBay. It's now the most beautiful pen I own...

I've inked it with the included cartridge, which I'm not as wild about (I suppose it's Levenger Black). Must choose another ink for the pen soon. Fortunately, I can justify almost any of my favorite colored inks with this pen!

Gorgeous pen! I've seen the material recently in a Titanic, and I can attest to its beauty. Enjoy it!

And actually it was last week.

And it was really getting it back from Greg Minuskin following some nib training.

The pen came from Pens Plus, a very pleasant and professional experience. The factory stub suffered from 'baby-bottom' syndrome, so off to Greg it went. It returned from California perfectly well behaved, a lush, smooth stub.

The pen is unlike any other in appearance. The celluloid is also used in the Titanic. The blue is flat and bright. The brown flecks are marbled with great depth and variation. It's like an optical illusion: sometimes the blue is on top of the brown, and sometimes the opposite.

It's a double reservoir system, which I'm still getting the hang of. The nib is broad and smooth. The pen writes well posted or unposted, as it is substantial feeling. A stunning pen, and holds its own with its Italian celluloid cousins.

I received a box of pens today, alas only one was for me -- a beautiful CS 85 in blue with gold veining. The rest were repairs in trade for the CS. Good deal for me. Restoring pens is a way to work on and write with wonderful pens, for a few days and send them back to their owners working and polished to a nice lustre and ready to fill the pockets and purse all over the world. What a great job (part time anyway).

A couple of days ago, I received a Stipula Suprema Pelago in the dark blue celluloid. Now that I've fixed the leak, I quiote like the pen. However, and with apologies to the B-nib lovers, it will soon be sent out to Greg M. to become a stub. Best,

David

Well ... the hubby just called (I'm at work) and said that a box came from jpens.com. So, it looks like the office x-mas pressies I ordered (Pilot Petit1) are here. Well, part of them. I've just got to wrangle the other part now. (And yes, I'm taking one for m'self.)

I also decided to get a Silver Pelikan Future (M nib) from isellpens, so that should be here sometime next week.

My care package from The Writing Desk (TWD) arrived today; impressive considering it shipped yesterday. I picked up a bottle of Noodlers BP black, a Duofold Centennial (M), one of the large Moleskine notebooks (plain) and two Clariefontaine A4 notepads.

The N-BP black is much darker compared to the Montegrappa black ink, there is a subtle difference. That said the MG ink is from my 1930 Extra, and the N-BP is in the DC, so the nib (etc) also does play a part in how the ink flows I guess...

Still, clarity wise the N-BP does not disappoint :-)

I will don my black arm band and officially enter mourning for the loss of another B nib. :crybaby:

Yay! My slate-grey Pilot Prera came today! It's a lovely little pen, that reminds me of a more modern looking Sailor Sapporo. :)

Danitrio Densho with gloss finish and firm fine nib arrived from Kevin today. All I can so is "I love this pen!"

Two new pens and some new ink:

1) Lamy Vista-medium nib, running red carts until the converter I have ordered arrives-this was the first fountain pen I bought many moons ago-lost it and now replaced, although this one is a demonstater and the old one was a matt black (with blue carts).

2) Aurora Optima and a bottle of ink-the catch here is that I am not allowed to view/use said pen (or ink) until xmas...so expect a review in early 2008!

Well, Halleluja! My Caran d'Ache Ecridor Retro full size finally returned home from a 21/2 month long skiing holiday in Switzerland. She was sent in because the nib was all skippy and way too wide for my tastes, so she now has a fine nib instead of a skippy medium and she writes like a dream! The line is about the same as my Van Gogh M nib, so I am a happy camper. The converter seems a little tight, though. Oh well.

On Friday I got my second Montegrappa Extra 1930, this is in Green Marble. It may actually be prettier than my Brown Turtle... mostly it is a tie. These will definitely be my two "working pens", one everyday and the second as backup. I will probably get the roller ball mates for signature. After a couple years of searching, these were my choises as the best production pens available.

Definitely a happy camper.
