What Pen Did You Get Today?

I forgot to list my new Libelle Chromatic that I acquired at the NY/NJ pen show. It was an absolute steal for $43. And it is steel. ;)

It's not as heavy as it looks... weighted, but feels nice. The metal mesh ellipses in the brushed aluminum body creates an impression of an automotive engine. Very bold. The nib is your usual IPG, but very good quality, nice and smooth. Converter included and it comes in a nice looking (though somewhat cheap feeling) box with faux leather fold-over lid.

Is it made from steel or aluminum?

Both, actually. The brushed section is aluminum. :)

Darn it...

When a pricey pen you've been longing after comes around at a discount, you have to jump on it before it slips away, regardless of where your budget is at. You can always "compensate" later, right? :/

Well, it happened. That wonderful multi-colored resin Indigenous Peoples Delta fountain pen finally came around at the right price. Not the overly pricey vermeil version, but a limited edition of the special edition that has a lever filler mechanism (as opposed to ink converter).

Now the rollerball version I got a few months ago will have a great companion. :D

Both, actually. The brushed section is aluminum. :)

It's remarkable how dramatic an effect light and/or camera angle can play, isn't it?..In the top photo, the composition of the middle 'brushed' (aluminum) section could easily be misconstrued as pot metal, whereas, in the bottom photo, the very same section might pass for Sterling silver.

In any case, the pen certainly makes for a striking statement!!! :yikes:

Love it! :puddle:

No new pens today, but I did get back my old Parker Vac from being restored. It works & writes like a charm, and it almost looks brand new!!

I just got a nice blue Wality 69L piston filler from isellpens.com, and I am VERY VERY pleased with the purchase. I can't remember having spent $6 and feeling like I spent $60 so strongly.

It's no OMAS, of course, but it's pretty darn good.

It's mainly pens, just now....

Oh, good heavens. He's got a blog now, too.

Over the past couple of weeks, I've managed to collect my initial set of fountain pens--all cheapies for the time being:

5) A NOS Sheaffer NoNonsense, old style screw-on cap, green marble/swirls, fine point. This pen seems to be rather well made for a cheapie. Its nib looks just like that of the cartridge pen (albeit gold-plated), except that it's better finished and writes much more smoothly than any other pen I've tried. In fact, although my experience is extremely limited, I doubt that any pen of any price would write much better than this one out of the box (maybe I just lucked out, I don't know). Its main weakness is that it is rather light in weight for its size. It's probably going to take me a while to decide whether I prefer writing with the NoNonsense or the Phileas overall, as they feel very different to me, and different inks will play a role as well, of course.

I snagged an old No Nonsense from my son's room. Cleaned it up and it is amazing. More reliable and smooth that some of the expensive nibs I have. Sure, the plastic is cheaper, but the writing is what counts. Enjoy.

Thanks, Clive. Hopefully it will turn out to be outstanding--must write with it to see if it meets expectations. I did try an Indigenous Peoples Delta fountain pen before... I think it was the Kossack model. Nib was really very nice. I'm hoping this matches. This particular pen would be over $500 new and I'm getting it considerably cheaper. And it'll be great to have the matching rollerball with it. I'll do a combined review later on. :)

My Pelikan Go finally turned up from Dov.

He got it in the post really quickly, but postal disputes in the UK mean that the one that Dov sent to my better half got to her a week before mine got to me despite being posted at the same time!

Anyway, I would say that it is narrower than any other Pelikan medium that I have used, but it is a great little pen which will be on my new desk in the new job on Monday. It looks like it would be able to take some abuse and be able to shrug it off.

Wednesday, my Pelikan GO's arrived from Dov, one of each colour. Awesome little pens - they're really for my kids, so after I've written them dry, I'm going to rinse and store them till the kids are ready for them. I agree with Andy's comment upthread - they write finer than my Pelikanos, even the Pelikano with the F nib.

I was extra thrilled with the Israeli stamps on the package! I'm going to soak them off and save them.

A Namiki Falcon from Pam arrived the same day, but I had to wait till next day to pick it up. I'm fondling it even now; it's exactly what I was looking for. In Sakura's words - I plan to buy as many pens from Pam as I can hide from my family :), as it is, I've stuffed the mailing envelopes from both packages under my desk, waiting for the right time to burn or bury them

Just received my new Lamy 2000 EF from Pear Tree Pens! I have yet to ink it, so I'm anxiously waiting until I get home. Quick turnaround on shipping as usual (Thanks, James!), but I can't say that I'm so happy with the USPS. The package arrived 2 days ago, yet the carrier admitted to not leaving a notice on the first delivery attempt. His excuse? "I didn't have anything to write with." :hmm1:

It was kinda like Christmas yesterday . . . two packages in the mail!

I got a beautiful Parker 51 pen/pencil set from the Bay, in gorgeous condition. Lustraloy caps are pristine, and the bodies look like new. The pen's beauty was not just skin deep . . . the aerometric tube and ink sac also looked new (press 4 times), and it inked right up and wrote like a dream. I'm not sure of how Parker nibs generally compare, but to me it writes like an EF, which is just what I wanted. They came with a nice original box and even the paper pamphlet. As an added bonus, the set was listed as being black, but I'm sure that they're actually dark blue (which is cool!)

Also . . . I got my Pelikan M600 back from Pendemonium with it's M nib transformed into a (roughly) 0.7mm cursive italic. It also writes awesome, and really adds some character to my scratchings.

To celebrate I ordered a set of five PR inks (Purple Mojo, Fiesta Red, Chocolat, Black Magic Blue, and Sherwood Green).

A co-worker gave me a Waterman Charleston in ivory finish - she didn't want it. Check out the details in the Waterman forum. Yippee!

Today something old is something new (for me). This junior-sized ebonized pearl Sheaffer Balance arrived in the mail. One day I've got to get an oversized version of the ebonized pearl balance. This one has a very smooth fine+ 14K nib.
