What Pen Did You Get Today?

c1925 Waterman BHR Ideal 52. It will be interesting to get it into shape and see how it all works out. E-Bay purchase - and at $38 - I may have paid too much for it. But ....

Too much? Thats a great price for a 52. You will enjoy the flex nib sooooooo much ;)

I received (or actually re-received) a Kaweco Al-Sport. The first one was a dud; the cap wouldn't post and the nib was very skippy. I sent it back to the the folks at Luxury Brands and they promptly replaced it. The second one posts and writes perfectly...I took it to classes tonight (first day of the new semester) and it was great. It's my first mini fountain pen, and it promptly bumped my Fisher bullet pen and my Lamy pico out of the role of "always on me" pen.

A Sailor 911, full size in red with the Zoom nib. It's AMAZING!!!!! The nib glides over the paper like oil paint on copper or glass. I ran around the house and grabbed samples of at least 12 different papers and the experience was the same on each and every sheet. Weaver McCracken at penseller.com was very patient with my travel inspired, attenuated ordering process. It was certainly worth the wait for me ;-)

Didn't get anything new today, but it's almost like I did. I bought a few pens off the marketplace earlier this month that were sold as pens-in-need-of-tweaking. I figured it was a good opportuntity to start playing with some light nib tweaking and feed adjustments.

It was a busy month (some travel, getting ready for the new semester, and I now have one fewer rabbit than I did two days ago :( ), so I didn't have a chance to do any tweaking until late last night. I now have a medium Waterman Kultur and medium Green Sheaffer Imperial, both writing flawlessly (so far). I still have some playing to do with a flighter-style Parker Latitude, but that will have to wait until tonight or tomorrow.

Just like getting two new pens!

A Pelikan Level for a bit under £10 from electronicBay.

I only really wanted the bottle and thought about putting the pen alone up on electronicBay, but how cruel would that be!?

Pelikan Souverän 800 with a fine nib. I'm real pleased at how smooth it is. I've got the same model in BB and this one seems more practical.

You could always give the pen to someone as a gift to get them interested in fountain pens. Just a thought.

Good to hear. I have one arriving in the morning, black with rhodium trim. I did consider getting that red one from Fountain Pen Domain - it's a good price if you happen to want a Zoom nib. In the end I got it a fraction cheaper elsewhere, after taking shipping charges into account. I'm really looking forward to trying that nib, so thanks for whetting my appetite.

sailor sapporo in black/rhodium with a fine nib

namiki falcon with a fine nib

various namiki ink [bottle and carts] plus a bottle of aurora black

both these pens have quickly become favorites. even as a lefty i have no problems getting nice flex out of the falcon and it writes smooth all the while. i was also surprised at just how small the sapporo looks, though it still feels like a regular size pen in the hand, without posting. i think it goes without saying that it writes perfectly, hehe.

ive got two more pens coming soon, but thats another post, another day :) .

A lovely matte black ED Densho with a stub nib arrived from Kevin. I am so pleased with it. It makes a nice companion for my Mikado with a flex stub nib.

Have filled it with Visconti blue. And now I have 70 letters to write before the week-end. That should give it a good try out.

What fun!

Bumper delivery - Rotring Initial BP and FP set, a Cross Solo with broad nib and 2 Watermans - a W2 and a W3. Solo was a bit of a disappointment, possibly due to it being a broad nib, not as smooth as I expected. Re-sac'd the W2 and it was a delight, just using Quink blue/black which I quite like. Dip tested the W3 with the same and think I am going to have fun as the nib is quite flexible. Will save the Rotring for later when an empty cartrdge becomes available.

I took a chance on a very fuzzy eBay photo. It turned out to be a NIB Sheaffer Prelude with chased paladium cap and ebony body. Nice pen and a smooth writer, but it has a medium nib and is a little broader than I'd like. I'll probably put it up for sale in The Marketplace.

I just opened a package and found a black Lamy 27 in fine. A nice, lightweight piston filler with ink view windows and a gold nib. Can't wait to drive it! I'll get to that sometime this weekend.

Well, I got this one at the DC show, but I didn't finish re-ending it until yesterday, so that's as close as I can come today.

It's a ladies' model. Ask me if that means I won't enjoy the nice flexy nib? :)

Picked up a P61 and matching BP, pretty good condition, just the arrow missing on the nib section which doesn't really bother me, I have a spare somewhere which if I track it down I will stick on.

Just finished flushing the FP and once dry will ink up and use next week, probably Watermans Blue Black. The BP will get an blue ink gel refill.
