What Pen Did You Get Today?

George

Recommended Posts

Today, a Lamy ABC, a Noodler's Swirl Ebonite Konrad, and a Konrad John Mung arrived in the mail. I've inked up the two Noodler's. I haven't figured out what color to put in the Lamy yet. (It was purchased more for fun anyway.)

And to amateriat: I feel your pain. I love my Pilot Custom 823. It was my first (and so far only) expensive pen. I love using it. I've been writing all day. I can fill pages with the Pilot without even noticing. I like the Noodler's pens and have been using them too, but conscious awareness that I'm writing does not disappear when I use them. I think I would cry if I lost my Pilot.

A Sheaffer Touchdown Admiral. With (I swear to god) an xxxxf nib that is drier than death valley. It's a little better now, after spending an hour widening the nib slit. I think the tines are still barely touching at the tipping though. So, out come the brass shims. Should be wet enough to write properly in a little bit.

Calculating.

A Duofold Centennial Citrine just arrived. It was a steal...couldn't resist it. It's far more flashy than my other Duofolds, 1 Black GT Intl (first series), 1 Maroon Marble Intl ('91) and a Black GT Centennial from 92, but I like it. First impression is that the Arrow nibs are smoother than the Ace of Spade nibs, which is quite stiff, but I'll get used to it.

I just got a Sheaffer Intensity, but sadly it's got a very deep scratch which was very disappointing. I'll be returning it tomorrow.

I just ordered a Visconti Cosmos American Dream with a medium nib. I have an HS in fine that I like a lot and wanted to try that nib in a medium in a slightly different presentation.

I got my Paidi (sub brand Hero) Century 6 this morning. It is based on the Pilot MYU, Murex and M90. Looking at the pen it is authentic in its own right as the pen seems to have taken onboard a part of the wonderful Pilot pens. The tip section has incorporated the 1977 Murex textured section with the MYU 701 streamline integrated nib and colour texture looks and feels like the M90. The Century six is a good weight and size and at the corner of my eye, whilst writing, it looks like a tiny metallic anteater! The nib is a rigid Asia medium. I am so in love with this pen and it looks like it really does need to be recognised in its own right as a alternative to the Murex and M90. The pen is from China around 1990s, has a Snap on type cap which is a bit of a pain. The pen appears to be some form of metal/steel and as expected the Nib section is steel. It holds quite a functional filling option as it came with a removable aerometric filler.http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTIwMFgxMjAw/z/Nr8AAOxydlFS-fj1/$_57.JPG

I received the Pilot Decimo in Red today. It is a nicer finish than the standard VP red, and is my only Decimo. I have a dozen standard VP's (including red). I can hardly wait for the new standard VP colors coming out in the next couple days!

A burgundy Wearever with silver cap, and a black Esterbrook (not sure which version yet, as I haven't studied it closely enough). I picked them up in an antique shop last month, and sent them to Danny Fudge for refurb. The Wearever was leaking and definitely needed the spa visit; it seems to be perfect now. The Estie seemed to be fine when I bought it and tested it for a few days, but I figured it should go in anyway to be safe.
