I just got my first LAMY Safari today.

Looking forward to inking it up.

Woot.

2 Jinhaos, 2 Kaigelus, and a youngshen. :) All of the pens I ordered about a week ago arrived on the same day, so I'm in a little bit of pen heaven, though a couple of them need some tweaking before I'm going to be completely happy with them. However, the youngshen, which happens to be the one I was really excited for, worked like a dream right out of the box. :cloud9:

My Pelikan M800 finally arrived today (almost 2 months after pressing the "Buy Now" button on Ebay). A truly beautiful pen, bought it based on reviews and opinions without ever holding one in my hand prior to getting this one, and it exceeds my expectations. Earlier this week, my new Pilot Custom 74 also arrived, along with a Cross Radiance..And last week, while waiting to pick up my Online Vision at a Service Center (faulty clutch in the cap) I spotted a Lamy 2000 in a tray among a bunch of other pens on clerk's desk. Since I never saw one "in person" I asked the clerk if I can have a look, and I was hooked the very moment I uncapped it and put the cap back on. "You don't sell these by any chance, do you?" I asked her. "But of course. Would you like one?" So I became a proud owner of that fine writing instrument too.

And that's IT. Enough is enough. I will not buy another pen for a very long, long time. This has turned from a "hobby" to a full blown obsession and addiction, borderline insanity, and it is time to put the brakes on. Going forward, it's only exotic inks and fine paper for me... but no sensless hoarding. No new acquisitions until existing supplies are exhausted.

Today's plunder from the Triangle Pen Show. I was well-behaved and came home under budget. Sorely tempted, though -- still lots of nice stuff out there.

The Waterman Carene in Royal Violet was actually a rollerball, but I removed the plugs from inside the body ends and inserted a spare Carene nib I happened to have (don't ask) and a converter -- now it's a fountain pen. I've wanted the Royal Violet Carene for some time. Both Carenes came from the table of Paul Erano.

The Pelikan M1000 is from Richard Binder, appropriately Binderized while he recounted some of his adventures as a computer engineer in a previous life.

The TWSBI was a fling on my part, from the table of Brian and Lisa Anderson. I've read many enthusiastic reports here on FPN, and at 1/10th the price of the M1000 -- well, why not! Initial reactions: the nib isn't anywhere like the M1000's, but it feels like a quality pen, looks good, and although the nib is a little stiff, the writing experience is smooth and reliable out of the box. (Still no buyer's remorse for the M1000, though.)

Was sorely tempted by an Visconti Divina Desert Springs, an Omas Paragon in saffron celluloid, and an Omas Paragon in burl celluloid, but the hand-feel of the M1000 finally got me.

Now for the post-show energy crash -- but I have to say, I'm pleased with my new pens. Now I need to turn my attention to actually using them!

Noodler's Ahab. Got it cleaned, inked and i'm having fun already.

All I want is 1 more pen, and 1 more bottle of ink, and maybe 1 more pad of paper. Well, at least until tomorrow. Oh yeah, and throw in that bottle of single malt. Is that asking for too much?

thanks Chris.

Baoer 79 "Skywalker-clone". Very nice, weighty pen for under $10 shipped to me.

Yes, it's basically a Mont Blanc rip off. But they aren't trying to counterfeit, just flatter by imitation.

Nice smooth writer, even using ordinary bottled Quink.

Last week I went for a short business trip to Singapore. At the airport, I found 2 Pelikan Souveraen M1000, one in signagure green Stresemann stripe, B-nib, the other in all black fashion, M-nib. I was torn between the 2. The M-nib fit my taste but I preferred the all black style. Finally I asked the seller to swap the nib, and I came back with the black M1000 with medium nib! Voila!!!

Okay, I know this is cheating just a bit, since this is about a pen I'm seriously thinking about getting. I'm the guy who goes on about not having any more pens about than I can seriously keep in circulation without much thought. ("Rotation", I said playfully to a collector friend, "is for tires and lightbulbs.") Of course, keeping with my own pen-purchasing tradition, this is more a substitution than an addition: I have an Eversharp Skyline that I purchased a year ago which I've totally failed to get on with - one of those thankfully-rare "seemed like a cool idea at the time" decisions - and, replace it with a Namiki Falcon. Of course, I also want to swap my B-nib clear Custom 74 for the same thing in Smoke. It could happen any time now...

Two Sheaffers: a Prelude F Black CT that seems to have been around a bit. Sadly it lost its section trim ring. Works fine without it, but I'll be on the lookout for something to replace said ring with... The other, a Sheaffer 440 F Burgundy - the colour looks more like plum to me though. Two nice pens, a fair deal, almost no work involved; I'm happy.

The Silver grip version 1911 landed home today, all the way from Japan.

Reference

I own a few sterling silver pens, this one is so simple, understated and perfectly balanced. I fell in love with this model when I got to use Yukio Nagahara's personal sterling model fitted with a king Cobra nib. The pictures do not convey the pen, its size and ergonomics at all.

I think this is a must have pen for all sterling pen enthusiasts. :)

Not exactly today, but last week and it is my latest acquisition: a green Mabie Todd Swan, 14Ct #1 nib. A very light and small pen with a nib that can flex from fine to broad. The nib might have been a little smoother, but I may have been spoiled by bigger nibs. Loaded with Waterman Florida Blue ink, lots of fun so far.
