What Pen Did You Get Today?

Well last Friday night I went to an estate auction. The guy had collected literally everything under the sun. Including a few fountain pens :) I had gone as fast as I could from work and still didn't get there in time to check out the pens they were selling! So, I took a gamble and I think I came out ahead. So for $36 I got a Parker Vacumatic Silver Pearl in great condition, a Jade Parker Duofold Jr (barely discolored) with the price sticker still on it, an extremely discolored green Sheaffer Lifetime flatop, an even more discolored green Sheaffer Lifetime ringtop, and a black Esterbrook SJ. I think I did ok! It was a blast and now I'm officially hooked on going to auctions.

Well, I've received my second pen. I started with a Lamy Safari, which I like very much. I wanted to have a selection, so I asked here in the forum as to what my next pen should be. After reading all of your excellent advice, I went with the TWSBI Diamond 540 Sapphire "F". I received it yesterday, and had the chance to ink it today.

THIS IS A FABULOUS PEN. Thank you all so much for recommending the TWSBI. The pen writes beautifully, is smooth as glass, easy to fill and work with, and is just the right size (I like a pen with some weight). It's a smidge top-heavy when posted, but nothing unreasonable. In comparison to my Safari "F", I'd say the nib is essentially the same. Glad I went with the "F".

I'm loving owning and writing with this pen. I'm currently using Noodler's La Rheine Mauvre, and it looks wonderful.

Thanks again!

Hi there! And welcome to FPN!:W2FPN:

Lamys and TWSBIs are great ones to start on. A Safari was my first as well. Amazing how addicting this hobby becomes.

As for me: My vintage Pelikan 400 arrived. FlexyXF nib. Looking forward to playing with it tonight!

A S.T. Dupont Classique in different blue colours, chinese lacquer, sold by dboulonnais here, and a Mabie Todd & Bard Swan in hard rubber with two rings ornamented with snail patterns(my precious precious fetish).

Again, my wallet is screaming for grace.

I should go back to the offline world. Seriousry!

I just received a silver Lanbitou 866 with a fine nib. Not a real smooth writer, but still a nice pen for the price.

I know, they're not FPs, but I got my jetpens order today, an Uni Kuru Toga Roulette mechanical pencil and a Pentel brush pen. So far I like them both a lot.

This friday, I purchased a seventh MB 149, a 1970 model with a medium broad stub flexible nib

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

After all the hype about the Kaweco Sport(how did I not hear about this all these years)I got one on Friday. Although a lovely little pen, I find it a bit inconvenient to carry. I will continue to use my trusty Safari when traveling, or should I say the pen with the clip that won't let go.

The UPS guy showed up and I was expecting the M400 White Tortoise I ordered, but instead I opened the package and the Hubby totally surprised me with a Pelikan M320 Pearl and a M600 Green o' Green. :cloud9: I love the M600, all the photos I had seen of this pen did not do it justice. It's really gorgeous. The M320 is soooo cute. It's a looker, and super tiny - though I'm scared to write with it. I like my pens bigger, with a decent amount of weight, but I do love a beautiful pen - even when it's no bigger than my index finger (uncapped - the pen, not my finger ;) ).

Today I got my third fountain pen: A Bexley Corona, B nib, Summer Storm, from RichardsPens.

First two were a Lamy Safari M, and then a Pelikan 200.
