I got a nice Sonnet - black with silver, off my cousin, she's just upgraded to a Gold Lustre! I just paid off my bill so I'm looking to get another Sheaffer Prelude and try out a Lamy Al-star EF nib, maybe a hero 616 as well... I always get carried away,;rolleyes: still, I've got about £35 left over, adding to the £50 from last month... that's £85 for some more, better FPs!!! yay! :vbg:

Hey!

Here is my first post and I seem to start a fountain pen addiction :puddle:

I own a Pelikan M730 since my wife gave it to me as a present for the birth of our twins fifteen years ago now. Now I found that this pen sells for $350 and I am sure it was only about 150 Deutsche Mark (€ 80 today!) when my wife bought it so I thought oops! I will not take this pen out of my house anymore.

On the other hand I started studying to earn an additional bachelor’s degree and this forces me to write exams by hand and not keyboard so I was looking for a less expensive gold nib pen:

After browsing a lot of Pelikan pen shops I switched to the other german brand LAMY, had a love at first sight experience and bought a my first LAMY pen ever a

LAMY 068 Studio Palladium.

So that is my new pen and I got it new but without packing from the bay for €50 only. What makes it a good pen to be taken to the university.

As backup pen I am awaiting a new nib for my 20 year old Pelikan M200. The original one was destroyed when my twins were too young to understand how a pen works… Parenting fail!

The mailman just brought me my Waterman Perspective CT set (fountainpen, Rollerball, normal size ballpoint), it is exactly what i hoped it would be. Nice heavy pens and very pretty, and not too expensive to take out and enjoy on daily basis at work and uni :)

My Montblanc William Faulkner finally arrived from America this morning, after languishing in customs for the best part of a week. Worth the wait though, absolutely beautiful with a lovely stubbish bold nib - the biplane engraving on it is awesome!

My Ruby Red M320 (F nib) arrived yesterday, a day earlier than expected. I filled it with Noodler's Red-Black and I am taking copious notes about nothing in particular. :)

Lamy Safari Charcoal, fine nib. :)

AND my bottle of Noodler's Saguaro showed up too! Party!

Same thing minus the Noodler's! Same color and nib, too.

My third fountain pen behind my Hero 616 and Noodler's piston fill. Although I ordered both the pen and converter from the same Amazon dealer they shipped in two separate shipments. :gaah:

Me too!

I'm on a business trip to Dresden Germany, but flew into Berlin the day before. So I spent the day shopping (I tend to keep myself busy the day of arrival so that I don't fall asleep until local bed-time, thus getting over the jet lag in one day).

I went to the amazing Zeichen-Center Ebeling (translates as Ebeling's Drafting/Drawing Center), which has a huge selection of pens, pencils, paper, notebooks, etc. I went there primarily to get a new gold-plated Fine nib for my 1990 Pelikan M200 (which as a gold-worn-off Medium nib), which they had set aside for me (I e-mailed last week to tell them I was coming).

Much to my surprise, they also had the Galeria-Kaufhof-only Pelikan M605, for only 97 Euro (2 Euro less than G-K's price, but they were out of stock anyway). Furthermore, because ZCE stocks the full line of Pelikan nibs, they swapped the M605's Medium nib for a Fine at no charge.

So, for less than I'd pay for just a new gold nib in North America, I got a whole M600-series pen with silver trim and a two-tone rhodium plated 14K nib, and a replacement gold-plated nib for my M200.

Sorry for the lousy photos. I just have my little pocket point-and-shoot camera with me.

Sadly, I haven't been able to use the pen yet, since I didn't buy any ink. I travel with carry-on baggage only, so didn't want to deal with the potential security and/or bottle leakage issues. I bet they would have let me fill it up had I asked. At least I've got my M200 with its new nib inked up (it's amazing how easy it is to change the nibs on even a fully inked Pelikan pen).

I received my Pelikan 120 on Friday from an eBayer. The nib is a bit scratchy, but this is my first pelikan so I wasn't sure if that was normal. But it's a hard starter and then I noticed the nib was a little bent. I'm planning to take it with me to the Vancouver Pen Club meeting, and maybe there will be someone there who can fix it for me.

I've just ordered the last Sailor Reglus (orange!) on offer from The Writing Desk. A good price, and I can't wait for it to arrive. Now I'm saving up for a replacement EF nib for the Pelikan 200 I won nearly twenty years ago in the Financial Times prize crossword competition. Those were the days: you sent in a correct crossword solution every Saturday for ten years and if you were lucky you won a really good Pelikan. Slightly less lucky and you were a runner-up -- with the same correct crossword solution, naturally -- and won the 200. But fountain pens! For prizes! Would they dare to do that in 2011? I was so delighted with my prize that I've hardly bothered to do a crossword in all the years since that glorious day. (I did the arithmetic: if I'd saved the weekly postage stamp I'd have afforded a Mont Blanc many years sooner than I did.)

I got the Faber Castell Ondoro but I haven't opened the package yet.

I also got an unexpected gift, a Pelikan Pura in blue/chrome.

Now I must think of pruning my collection, the number of pens I have is more than I can manage.

I will test both and decide what has to go.
