What Pen Did You Get Today?

Just received a dark amber colored celluloid Morisman plunger fill FB from Ebay today. It needs restoration of course since the plunger washer is completely gone, but suprisingly, it still draws some water when I cycle the plunger.

edit: I forgot to mention that I picked up a working Waterman Taperite from a local antique shop a couple of months ago.

edit2: corrected spelling

I picked up a Clear Waterman Phileas Demonstrator with a fine nib at the Ohio Pen Show today. I don't know for sure if it is brand new or not, but it was in immaculate shape and came with the original box and everything. It was only $20. Previously the cheapest price I've seen on this type of pen is $25, so this was a good deal.

It was the first Waterman pen I've ever had and I'm very impressed with how well it works for a $20 pen. I wish I could remember the name of the guy I bought it from so I could say "Thanks!"

-Hello, my name is Kenny and I'm a fountain pen addict with a taste for Lamy and Esterbrook.

Bexley 10th anniversary Yellow Swirl overstock. Haven't inked it yet.

Heh. Handed it along with a Jinhao orange swirl to an FP neophyte and asked him to pick out the cheap one. He held up the Bexley. Gulp. Not to worry - I can see the differences. :)

Also received (last week) the aforesaid Jinhao, an OHTO and a Pilot Crystal Demo from Murfie. That's me for a month at least, now. Unless of course...

When you're good at it, it's really miserable.

Geha 790 14 K semi-flex OEF, from @1960.

A 15 degree cut, on the oblique.

It allows me to write regular with the slightest tad of tooth...or the level just under tooth...I'm not too up on tooth.

Or smoother oblique.

I'd not expected that.

I get two very slightly different patterns. I get more pattern variations with my OB's of course; larger sweet spot. My OM and OF's are 30 degree cuts so they have to be held obliquely.

Using Waterman Blue Black, a shading ink, I was very surprised that writing large gave me a very nice shaded script.

I was of course able to write 'normal' and tiny also...and got some shading. But the shading in large writing is better; the line is classic refined.....well for my scribbling.

Every time I turn around I learn something new.

This is the second black and gold 790 I have, the other has a 14K KM nib. K=kugal/ball, a very nice wet writing semi-flex. (5th/6th best nib)

I don't know where to place this new OEF, but now that I've seen how it writes large, it will find a place. It will be fun running it through my shading inks.

It may be I'm swimming against the current by using an EF to write large, but shading inks dance when they want too.

The pen is @ the size of a Pelikan 400.

An OEF nib appears to be rare, in the pen cost €15-10 over normal for a 790.

In reference to P. T. Barnum; to advise for free is foolish, ........busybodies are ill liked by both factions.

Ransom Bucket cost me many of my pictures taken by a poor camera that was finally tossed. Luckily, the Chicken Scratch pictures also vanished.

a myu 701 with a fine nib  now inked with noodler's ottoman rose. am still trying to decide whether to carry such a small pen around with me at work (and risk loosing it or having fall out of a pocket), or just keep it at home for home use. but it's to pretty to keep cloistered at home!! hmmm.....

Currently inked:

Smoke TWSBI 540, F, with Diamine Onyx Black

Pilot Prera, M, with De Atramentis Jules Verne
