A lovely Montblanc 32 arrived for me yesterday morning. I need to get some free time to ink it up and try it out now.

Two identical packages of:

2 Reform P120 and 3 Dollar Student Pens

Why two? I accidentally had one sent to my old address and was convinced it was lost. When I asked smeden to confirm I had made this error, he offered me a discount on a reorder. I didn't think forwarding worked with USPS (that they had just delivered to the new occupants or something), so I took him up on the reorder. I got the second order at my work and finally got the first order today. I don't know why the forwarding appears to have taken like 2 and a half weeks, but I'm happy at the result.

P120 is fantastic if you ask me.

Student Pen is a lot like the piston fill version of the Hero 616 in my book. Nice pen to be sure, but it is cheap feeling and overall cheap enough for me to be reckless with. I'll risk one of these instead of a nicer pen to test ink mixes and the like.

Smeden is a great seller and an asset to our community. Buy from him if you like Dollar or Reform. :)

These NOS piston fillers, have been sitting a long time, they need, in the P-120 glycerin which you buy at your pharmacist. Fill and let sit nib up for a day. I used 50-50 with water.

Soak the friction feed P-125 and the 1745's screw out nib sections in water, to make them come off easy...take a toothpick tip of pure 100% silicon grease smear on the edge of the piston ring. In that the pens have been sitting NOS for a while, they have developed micro-corrosion on the nib tip. A minute of up to four 15 second smoothings with a brown paper bag, will wear off the drag. Circle left, right, up and down, sideways, and figure 8's.

Smeden does that for you, and will tweak the nib, if you want it a wetter writer. He's a good source should you be in the States. His price seems to be fair, considering the work.

I have the P-120, which is the size of a P-75. It is a good pen, a nice semi hooded fine, a great pen for the € 5 I paid for it. It is not a screw out nib.

Having it, I didn't get around to getting the other Reforms offered on German Ebay, for some 10 months or so.

In the meanwhile, 2 ea, Reform 1745's were/are offered, for the bid of one. I got two for € 3. One was a classic nib fine, the other was semi-flex Fine....what a grand surprise.

Every two hours an other set of two is offered, so don't spend too much....you have to pay the postage. It was pure luck to get the semi-flex fine...one can always ask the man, when you win the double if he could find you a semi-flex fine too.

These are screw out nibs.

The "large" P-125, is only large compared to the 1745 which posts large. It is essentially the same size as the P-120, but with a classic nib. The P-125 is scarce and cost me € 10. I was very very happy, that it was an regular flex EF.

I have it inked rather than the EF nail, MB 320 I have.

The Reform pens are, economical school pens. They lasted a couple or three of decades

against the big boys, in school pens, Geha, Pelikan, and Lamy.

German has 5 words for fountain pen, and has umlauts, so if you want to hunt there, here is the basic words. copy and paste.

I should come to this happiness board every day. So many wonderful pretty pens.

One can see that the economy is not quite in tatters.

I'm not sure if I told of the coming of a pen, but didn't find my self in the last 6 pages.

I had been in England chasing Swans. I had one pen's budget left to Christmas, it was to be a Swan. I found a nice colorful one, flexible medium nib.

Some one using a snipe program, beat me by 20 cents.

As reserve, I had found a wonderful Conway Stewart Red Herring bone...a full day before the end, some one with money and good sense told me, go play in my own sand box.

To get out of Ebay England, I left My Ebay, put in the word Geha, in order to go to the bottom of the page and there was a Geha 725 rolled gold Goldschwing. (Gold Wing). Geha's MB chaser...(caught MB too). (I also have the 790, the Pelikan chaser...caught the 400NN too. A KM semi flex.)

6 hours to go I had no time to ask about the nib.

I stretched my budget. I won by thirty non-sniped cents.

It came in yesterday...I changed my mind about Black and Gold pens (b*itching about having too many)....it was a Grail Pen.

Rolled gold trimmings, flat gold disk on cap and barrel, sleek, classy simple uncharacteristic for a Geha clip. It fits the design. There is still a tad of Geha in the line sleeked up design, and lacked the Pelikan lip of many '50's German pens.

The section resembles the P-51 but is a tad thinner.

How many times can I use the word sleek before it runs out of steam?

It is probably my imagination that says rolled gold gleams better than gold plating.

I normally don't chase the late 60's-70's modern sleek thinner pens, because I am after semi-flex nibs that I have a better chance of finding in the '50's pens.

The Goldschwing, has a most gorgeous modern, semi-flex broad nib. A joy to write with. I was missing a semi-flex broad.

It is a grail pen. I also bought in 1970 a Parker 75, another grail pen. I think in spite of being common the P-51 can be a grail pen too.

With permission of Penboard.de I got a picture, that you can see much better there than by me. I can't make it larger with out losing definition. IMO the Geha Goldschwing is worth a better look there.

While there I saw a few other pens I would love to have, as soon as my ship "The Flying Dutchman" comes in.

I also realized I must buy pipe holders for my better pens that I have inked. I am not allowing my Geha Goldschwing to be jostled in the ordinary mahogany and brass desk set orgy box, with the other inked pens.

It and my MB 234 1/2 Deluxe (52-55)semi-flex KOB are now resting nib up in a double ink well, double pen holder set, with lots of cushioning air around them.

Yesterday I received my Chatterley Delta Stantuffo Dark Blue with Vermeil Trim and a broad nib - number 13 :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01: as well as a Visconti Ragtime 20th anniversary with a medium nib. I can't ink up the Chatterley until September but the Ragtime is amazing :)

Today I received my bargain Monteverde Sleeping Beauty with a medium nib for $79. I would have preferred a broad but for a brand new pen I'm not complaining :)

Edison Glenmont! Woohoo!! :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01: :cloud9:

It's my first Edison, made-to-order. Check it. . .

http://zobeid.zapto.org/image/pens/edison_glenmont_02.jpg

Brian takes such wonderful photos, it seems he can make anything look beautiful. I was worried the pen wouldn't live up to the photos. Ha! Turns out, the pictures barely even capture a hint of the pearly luster in the black acrylic. Likewise, the orange line swirling through it is more vibrant than the photos show. It's a real showpiece.

It has a steel nib, custom-ground to an oblique stub. It's a bit "sharper" with more line variation than I expected, but I think it'll be okay. My only problem so far is that it BLORTED a drop of ink onto my page a little while after I first filled it. I think (and hope) that only happened because I failed to properly blot the excess ink from the feed after filling the pen. My old (and much adored) Reform Czar has done the same thing a few times until I learned to blot it every time I filled it.

You can be sure I'll do a review on this one, after I've had sufficient "quality time" with it. :D

I finally got my Twsbi today! :D

But there is some leaking past the piston at the moment so I guess I have to wait for the replacement piston. :(

I received my first fountain pen in the mail yesterday, a Parker IM in the gunmetal finish with a fine nib. It is a very nice pen. It's quite weighty and looks great. It had problems starting when I tried using it this morning but after doing some research here it seems that this is not uncommon with new pens. I've left in a cup, capped with the nib end down so hopefully it will come good.

I got a Lamy 2000 rollerball today. Looks nice, but the little microscopic metal tab clicker system makes a scraping noise as it snaps into the cap.

Got my new Hero and Duke pens in the mail the other day, I've inked them and wrote a journal entry testing their flex capabilities. I do love it when a new pen (or pens) arrives in the mail! :bunny01: I guess the only downside to it are the custom fees :crybaby: Waiting for my Pelikans :puddle:

The scraping noise is normal, I think.

I got a Waterman Charleston, gold, fine nib. At the moment filled with Diamine Imperial Blue. It writes well, Imperial blue is a nice colour (dark blue with a hint of violet).

The Omas Bologna Optique LE arrived from the FPH today. It's a FPH exclusive of just 50 fountain pens.

No limitation number of any sort though. Weird LE

The 14K F nib is smooth, lays down a nice line and has a slight springy quality to it.. And thank God the metal section is rather short; my fingers touch the pen just above it :clap1:

Given the pen's perfect proportions, balance and weight just for my hand, I believe this one will also be a daily user alongside my St Dupont D-Link Palladium, Visconti Ragtime and Stipula Giardino di Boboli :puddle::cloud9:
