What Pen Did You Get Today?

George

Recommended Posts

It takes a lot to surprise me. However, my parents succeeded tonight at dinner by giving me a Montblanc Elizabeth I for my graduation. I'm waiting until after commencement to ink. I have no idea even what ink to use.

Wow!

I'd probably go with a Montblanc ink... maybe Violet, it being a regal (and rather nice) colour?

I didn't get any pens today, but I didn't post in the thread about my most recent one, which was a Pilot 78G. I wanted a bigger pen for my Pluminix italic nib.

I ended up choosing Montblanc Bordeaux. The next time I order ink I'm going to get a bottle of MB Violet as I think it would suit the pen well.

After a three-month hiatus in pen buying, I broke down and finally got my first Sailor (Professional Gear, with a 21k H-M nib) and a purple LE Vanishing Point with a B nib. Back to square one on the pen-buying diet.

Not quite square one, as the purchases were made last week, but I'm posting now since I only got my computer up and running recently.

Looking for an Omas Arco Verde...the one that got away.

I received what I thought was a blue Estie M2. Turns out it's a blue Estie LK with an M2 cap. :mellow:

1946 Silver Pearl vacumatic, fine nib. Got it from Fleabay so I was expecting the worst but what do you know, it writes!

Bought two Rotring Cores - one with an XS and the other with an XL nib. They looked so ugly and lonely sitting in the corner at the pen shop that I had to rescue them.

Dipped them for a test - they are surprisingly smooth writers. I plan to use them primarily for sketching and will probably take at least one of them around with me - they look like they'll cause damage to the floor if I dropped them :-)

I won today, but pick up on Tuesday at a live sit down auction:

a MB 234 1/2 14 K...forgot to look for what size the semi-flex nib was,

a Semi-flex 14 K OF Pelikan 140

and a Pelikan 450 mechanical pencil and matching 455 ball point pen. The last two I've no idea what to do with them....

It was one lot.

That will give me 8 or 9 semi-flex nibs.

This week a pen I bought a long time ago...November, before I "knew" what semi-flex nibs were, was one. I found that out needing a pen to put new ink in. From now on out, that pen's not going to be sitting lonely in it's cage.

Those Reform pens sat in the mail box all yesterday. I'd not known that the 1745 was smaller than both the P-120 and the P-125.

I liked how the P-120 wrote so ordered the other two.

They are thin pens. The P-120 is about the same width as the Parker 75.

Reform 1745 = 5 1/16th inch regular nib

un-caped = 4 3/4th

posted = 5 15/16th

P-120 = 5 1/4th inch hooded/semi-hooded nib

un-caped = 4 7/8

posted = 5 3/4

P-125 = 5 1/4th inch regular nib

un-caped = 4 15/16

posted = 5 15/16

Odd how the smaller pen the 1745 posts so much longer than expected.

On Saturday I got a 4-pack of Pilot 78G pens (medium nib) from eBay seller pokydady. These are unbelievably nice pens, for under $10 each, with converter and a bunch of cartidges.

Montblanc 146 - not sure if I like it. Great appearance, but it´s skipping all the time. Any idea how to solve it? :mellow:

Lamy Studio LE in platinum grey with an extra fine nib. It's a wet writer, which I like, and is writing beautifully with Noodler's El' Lawrence.

I bought 3 Pilot Pluminix today. One for me, one for the reserve and one for the user Oya (early BD present). She will be the one to write the review because she has nicer handwriting and she is less tired than I am.

A basic Pilot Knight.

My first fountain pen since, since,...., since a long, long time ago. Some black ink too.

This will be my proof of concept fountain pen.
