Yesterday at the Chicago Pen Show, I picked up a blue Pelikan M205 demonstrator, an Azure Blue Parker Vacumatic Major, and a near-mint Carmine Red striated oversize Sheaffer Lifetime Balance...

On the way home today, I stopped in at a couple of antique malls and found a brown Estie Dollar Pen, and a red SJ...Both appear to have been very lightly used.

All in all, a great pen collecting weekend!

Won a 1926 or 1927 Parker Duofold Junior (judging by the imprint photos and cap band photos) last night. I am assuming unrestored, so I procured the necessary supplies today for a full restoration. Hopefully I won't be terribly disappointed when it arrives. So far, I've had pretty good luck on the 'bay.

A Blue M800 arrived from Germany with a F nib. The tipping is of the newer ball type. Very smooth!

Wooo hooo . . . Just received my Lamy 2000 M. Got a great deal from someone who decided they needed an EF instead.

I'm very curious about that. Thus far, all of my fountain pens, with the exception of a Mont Blanc 149 which I suspect is a broad, have a Medium nib. 'All' being a Lamy 99/36, a Lamy 27/31, and a Pilot-Namiki Vanishing Point. Before purchasing the Lamy 2000, I did some research and found numerous reports that indicated the Lamy had a tendency to ink broader than the stated nib size would suggest. I'm not much of an artist, and typically use a pen for rather common writing chores. Well, using the same paper, and the same ink, I discovered little difference between the lines inked by the 99/36 which may be vintage 60's and the 27/31 probably late 50's early 60's and the current vintage Lamy 2000! Although the lines inked were VERY similar, I detected subtle differences in feel. I'm relatively new to fountain pen collecting (am I REALLY a collector? The MB and VP were gifts); And I haven't written with very many pens. . . but man, when I inked a few cursive words with the 2000, I couldn't help thinking . . . 'Wow, this is S-E-X-Y!'

Do F, and EF feel that way? I would think they would be scratchier? Cause if the M feels that good, I'm not gonna give it up!

Green-striped Pelikan 140 EF that writes more like an oblique fine flexible stub - in other words, exactly the nib I would have asked for!

Love it in the looks department, too. So. Very. German.

Finally after much waiting and anticipation I received this:

post-42042-127316690261.jpg

It's a soviet Russian Parker 51 copy which seems to be an accordion filler. It needs a good clean as there's ink all over the barrel and the pen. Not entirely sure what to do now though. I've no clue how to get into the sac or how to clean it safely. Any advice would be appreciated. I don't mind just looking at it but it would be far nicer to be able to use it.

2) Eversharp Skyline FLEX green striped cap

3) Ink-d-cator red/silver/black with a tiny nib

All in all, a good day.

It takes a lot to surprise me. However, my parents succeeded tonight at dinner by giving me a Montblanc Elizabeth I for my graduation. I'm waiting until after commencement to ink. I have no idea even what ink to use.

Wow!

I'd probably go with a Montblanc ink... maybe Violet, it being a regal (and rather nice) colour?

I didn't get any pens today, but I didn't post in the thread about my most recent one, which was a Pilot 78G. I wanted a bigger pen for my Pluminix italic nib.

Got a black Jinhao X750 in the mail from Hong Kong. Paid $7 including shipping, and received it in about 2 weeks. I had some flow problems at first, so I soaked the nib overnight in soapy water and flossed the nib gently, seems to work fine now with Waterman Florida Blue. It has a huge nice smooth writing nib. Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase - we will see the long-term durability of this pen in the days and weeks ahead.

Quite by surprise---a black Hero 360-degrees, from a longtime pen pal! :cloud9:

I filled it with J Herbin Bleu Myosotis and am testing it now. I might post a sort of pen-ink comparison thingie later.

My other pen is a Montblanc.

another 149 from 1974 with an extra flexible nib plus a waterman laureat from the first year of production in ivory cream color.
