What Pen Did You Get Today?

Well, technically I haven't bought a new one yet but I am going to a pen store on Friday to pick up a new one with some money from graduation. I'm hoping to pick up either a Pelikan M405, Aurora 88 or a Stipula Vespri Siciliani. I'll let everyone know on Friday which one I choose.

Received one of those little red and black Jinhao "pocket missile" pens today. Cute little thing.

I got goodies in the mail today!

 

1. My first Lamy Safari -- red with an extra fine nib, plus a converter. I loaded it up immediately with Noodler's Iraqi Indigo. I'm already hooked. I see more Safaris in my future.

 

2. A Pilot Parallel with the 6.0 mm nib. After some fussing with plumber's tape on the converter, I have it loaded up with Noodler's Firefly and I'm using it as a highlighter for my current research project. It lays a lovely, wide, glowing yellow line. Later I'll play with it for calligraphy and I can't wait to try the gradation feature.

 

3. I also got a Kokuyo NeoCritz stand-up pen case. I'm thrilled with the design, size, etc., but I'm a little disappointed in the color. The pictures I saw were more red but this is most definitely orange. Except when I'm cheering on the Chicago Bears, I'm not much of a fan of orange. But I know someone who is, so maybe I'll gift this one and order a different color for me.

At the Dallas Pen Show I traded a sweet 1928 Conklin Endura in black and bronze for a modern (in the box) Parker Duofold Centennial in black/gray mosaic. The Duofold is a beautiful pen with platinum appointments and a medium nib. I'm glad I made the trade as I believe I will get much more use from the Duofold.

I think I went overboard this month with quite a few purchases... I bought two Lamy Safaris - both limited edition colors in light blue with red clip and lime green, got them at great prices! I almost write exclusively in italic nibs, so I might try to grind them one day once I work up the courage.

 

In the mail today I received a pretty burgundy and gold Jinhao "calligraphy" pen, the one with upturned nib, which should be fun to play with. Haven't inked it yet.

i have a vintage Onoto 5601 and a Pelikan M400SE Brown Tortoise on the way. that will set this autumn count to six pens so far (five for me). not overboard yet, need to work harder on that.

Today, by coincidence, my new Parker Sonnet Cisele I won on eBay arrived, simultaneously with a cheap Sailor Recruit for me and a Red Pelikano Jr. for my 7-year old. He loves his fountain pens.

Another Dallas Pen show purchase my first Mont Blanc Diplomat #149 with a wonderful extra fine nib!

Sailor 1911 (Large/Classic) XF. I thought it was a bit small when I first looked at it, but then I dipped it, and all doubt disappeared. They weren't lying about Sailor nibs. This one gives half the line width of any European XF I've seen, and it's still the smoothest pen I own on good paper. It shouldn't be physically possible.

Today's mail brought me a Parker 51 Vac, Ebony Black -- worn, but fully restored and ready to write. My first Parker since high school (when I had a cheap one that didn't hold up well).

Just got a Jinhao Missile. I'm surprised by how tiny it is, as I was expecting something larger from this bunch: I'd not realised it was a pocket pen.
