What Pen Did You Get Today?

George

Recommended Posts

Two fp/mp sets:

Parker 51 Demi: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...e=STRK:MEWNX:IT

I've inked the pen and it writes and appears to be in good condition. The pencil is NOT a liquid lead (whew!) and appears mechanically sound. I'll have to grab some leads and play with it.

Esterbrook (j?): http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...e=STRK:MEWNX:IT

The pen needs a new sac--Man was i worried when I pulled it apart and bits of hard rubber rained down. It is intact, though and the pressure bar functions well. I'll be picking up a new sac and some shellac, now, i suppose!

The pencil also appears mechanically sound, though I'll need some lead to test and confirm.

Both auctions, quite by coincidence were from the same seller so I saved a few dollars on shipping as well.

All in all, quite happy, though I'm dying to get the esterbrook restored and writing.

There never was a body that give the undertaker a tip.

I got my Platinum multipen today. Tho not a fountain pen, it's alright and its versatility is the main reason why I got it. It kinda rattles, but I guess that's expected given all the parts inside. Still, it does save me a lot of clutter

After a buying moratorium of several months, I was waiting for a Pilot 78G with stub nib and a Pilot Calligraphy pen with a WEIRD nib (can't resist). Do we sense a theme here???

They arrived today but I haven't used them yet. Making tater sallid for the big Labor Day Q, and my rule is food first, ink-stained hands, second. :P

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

I just wanted to start a poll showing the new pens people get every day!

Have Fun!

I bought an Esterbrook XF italic from Vintage Fountain Pens: Esterbrook B: full-size "Dollar Pen", silver pearl lever-filler, 12.1 cm long, stainless steel trim, old-style #1550 nib with flat-bottomed feed has had its tip worn down and reground, somewhat toothy but calligraphic.

DATE: c. 1941 • CONDITION: exc • NIB: extra-fine italic

I'm looking forward to trying out this nib. I don't have much experience with italics or with flex in nibs. Vintage FP seems to offer a number of interesting nib types in the pens they sell - not that they regrind or anything, but the pens come with them. I'm inteeted now in XF semi-flex and flex. :clap1:

I just received my very first specialty nib! It's a stub nib from the justly esteemed Mr. Binder. It's housed in an unassuming black Pelikan M200 body, so it doesn't look like much, but it is so much fun to write with! Almost calligraphic line variation, but it writes just as smoothly as a normal nib. I filled it with some J. Herbin Bleu Nuit and the shading is lovely. Thank you Mr. Binder!

I think you'll find that's not flexible (the 1550 is a Firm X-Fine), but an italic type nib (after regrinding). The good news is, it's a Renew-Point, so if you don't like it, you can replace it with one you do like without buying an entire pen or paying a nibmeister.

I didn't really get it as I'm about 300 miles away but my M800 was delivered today so I'll get it when I get back.

Yes, unless I get a really good paid relocate tomorrow I'll be heading home. I'm hoping that's one of my two paid relocate options which makes it a no brainer. Have to see what happens.

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time
