A Parker 45, boxed and near mint, still had the box of 5 Parker Quink cartridges under the tray, nice fine gold nib and only £5, and its a sunny day.

All I need is Angelina to come a'knocking and it would turn into a pretty good weekend.

:rolleyes:

Arrived yesterday, a Bexley Tuck-Away in yellow pearl with a fine 18k nib. Definitely a different experience (7.5 " posted), like writing with a desk pen. The 18k nib is smooth and wonderful, with maybe a hint of flex? I am definitely going to enjoy this one, inked at the moment with private reserve tanzanite.

Black Aldo Domani (YAFA) Sorrento mini-pen set from Office Depot at $19.95. Unlike the ones shown on the Web site ( http://www.yafa.com/aldo/sorrento.html ) this was not "presented in a beautiful luxury box," but instead in a simple, unmarked black cardboard box on a bubble card. The fountain pen came with two international short cartridges, one in the barrel and one under the box insert. It's a heavy little thing, and after a good flush, rinse, and dry, it inked up nicely and writes smoothly and wetly (too many adverbs, I know). It's only 3-3/4 inches long unposted, but since I often write with a Fisher Space Pen, it doesn't really feel awkward. It is definitely too short for my only converter, but I can live with that.

The ballpoint isn't bad either, though it feels a little wobbly with the tip retracted.

I feel as though I got my money's worth from the purchase. :-)

I "got" a bunch of newly repaired pens -- my Wing Sung 230, Wearever Supreme, and unnumbered Hero all got slightly sprung nibs repaired (probably all from the same fault -- me thinking they were semi-flexible, or in the case of the Hero, more flexible than it actually is), and my Gui Guan 20 was reground from a B ball tip with bad baby bottom to the widest italic obtainable from the available tipping (it's about 0.9 to 1.0 mm on the writing edge, and rather crisper than my last regrind).

Of course, these weren't in the mail; the furthest they traveled was to the bathroom sink to get the ink flushed before work began. Amazing how easy it is to rebend a slightly sprung nib once it's out of the pen; all three of those are now back in proper contact with their feeds, and have acceptable tine gap (and will stay that way as long as I don't try to get them to pretend they're wet noodles again). Total time out of service between flushing the lot and re-inking the last: about two hours, a good chunk of that spent getting the feed out of the Wearever (it's remarkably difficult to grip at the front, and I didn't want to pull the nice new sac I installed last weekend to knock it out from the back). I also ground the rails off the Wearever's replacement J-bar, which considerably reduced the rattling of the lever.

Does not always write loving messages.

Does not always foot up columns correctly.

Does not always sign big checks.

My modern Aurora 88 returned from its Italian sojourn today. It left here June 15 with a leaking piston. It returned today with a new barrel. I am quite pleased!

Today I received a Dollar medium-nib piston-fill demonstrator with burgundy trim, and a Rotring Core Lysium fine nib. I'll wait for the Noodler's Black I ordered through Amazon to arrive before I ink the Dollar pen, but I went ahead with the blue cartridge the Rotring had in its barrel, and am very pleased with both the pen and the ink. As I was putting the cartridge in, I thought, "(Potty Mouth)! I didn't flush the pen first!" (Eagerness: I has it.) but it took off and wrote with no effort at all, a nice wet line for a fine point, and *very* smooth. The offset ergonomic section is a bit odd, and puts the nib higher than on a normal pen, but it didn't take but a few seconds to get comfortable with it. In the worst case, a small pad couuld be added to the low spot without damaging the pen. As is, this may become my pocket pen. :-)

Edit: the pens came from Swisher; credit where it's due!

Found a blue Wality 69L in my mailbox today.

Have not had the oppurtunity to ink it up yet, as I am waiting for my order of Noodler's Heart of Darkness to hit my mailbox. In the meantime, I am pleasently surprised at the quality of fit and finish.

Back to school shopping is much more fun when pens are on the menu.

Got my Namiki VP/Capless Blue Carbonesque FP with a M nib today by mail - NEW, and gotten for a rather good price.

I had given up hope of delivery today when late afternoon came and the mailman hadn't rung the doorbell -- however he'd managed to squeeze the parcel (originally, shoe-box-sized) into my mailbox (which has an admittedly large, though not shoe-box-sized, slot) and decided that a delivery signature would be silly, even though the parcel required such.....

Carefully extracting the box and opening it, the seller had been a skilled and careful wrapper and the pen and its sales-box were entirely unharmed.

Uhm....shiny nib.......textured lacquer.......and finally a choice of Herbin Gris Nuage as the very first inking of this pen. Not only looks good, but writes really well :)

I just received my first fountain pen on Monday, a Mont blanc 146, and today received a Waterman Charleston. Hopefully I will be getting my Pelikan m605 any day now.

When I got home today, a parcel from Germanywas waiting for me in the mailbox. It contained a 1940's Montblanc L139 with a BB nib. I think it is even a BB stub. The pen is in user grade condition and that suits me fine, because I am much more a user and not so much a collector. A dream came true. Thanks Tom !!

My loot from the DC Pen Show...

  • Nakaya Decapod, aka-tamenuri, stiff Medium nib;
  • Pelikan M205 Blue Demonstrator, Fine nib;
  • OMAS Italia (a bluish green pen in the old-style Paragon shape, from 1990), Medium nib;
  • S.T. Dupont Defi, Medium nib;
  • Montblanc Thomas Mann with a Bold nib, on its way to me from the Fountain Pen Hospital in a few weeks;
  • And last but not least, a wine bottle stopper.

I know I should feel guilty for my purchases. But instead, I feel quite satisfied. ;)
