Hi all

Last week I found a country antique store that had three few FPs, all in excellent condition. I bought them all.

1. Conway Stewart 475 and Scribe No. 3 AU $245.00 (US $200)

2. Swan Black Marbled, Swan 2 Nib, very flexible! AU $85.00 (US $71)

3. Swan Mabie Todd, Eternal 1, 14ct Nib, quite a firm nib. AU $48.00 (US $40)

So I payed a fair bit for 1 but I consider for Aust 2 & 3 were good finds.

It took quite a bit of soaking for 1/2 hour each night and very firm but careful twisting to get the section off the barrels. The sacs had completely solidified. Two sacs are now out, one crumbled to grit, the other is OK. The other sac is still stuck up inside the barrel. More soaking I think. Now I have to get some sacs.

Just got in hand my 2nd Esterbrook. Won it on ebay and it's everything I'd hoped for.

It's a Copper (or Rootbeer if you prefer) EsterBrook J with a 9556 nib that's as smooth as butter.

I love it....

I got a Sailor Recruit and a Onto Tasche from Jet Pens.

I'm hoping to do a review of the Recruit. Both were $15 each.

I got my first working FP today, a Lamy Safari Vista with fine nib. Inked it with Noodler's La Coleuer Royal and it wrote perfectly on the first stroke. I love this pen! I am a happy camper tonight.

I say first working FP because I have a Parker 51 aerometric that I've had in my possession for many years. I tried inking it some years ago but while I was able to fill it, it gave me little to no flow. I suspect that it needs a good professional going-over and I hope to send it out before long to have that done.

But for now I am happy with my Vista and purple Noodler's. Long story, but I also have a bottle of Pelikan 4001 royal blue on hand. I'll try that on the first refill.

Hi,

A nice modern CS 58 with matching BP, bought for a good BIN price on ebay (didn't want to risk anyone else getting to it first).

A 1947 Mabie Todd Swan 1060, Black celluloid, with a nice big med-flex nib.

The smell of camphor when I opened it was like Grannie's closet :D
