What Pen Did You Get Today?

George

Recommended Posts

Earlier this week I bought a Waterman Hemisphere with a medium nib, in black with chrome trim. I've filled it with Noodler's Deluxe Blue (which isn't as luminescent as I'd expected).

The pen is attractive, and a pleasure to hold. It's not as wet and smooth as my main chrome F Sonnet, but I'm going to be patient.

Here's a photo. I should perhaps do a review of it, but I'm still finding my feet with descriptions, terminology, and so on.

Hero 650 came in today from Speerbob. I was expecting, something not real well put together with a crappy nib. I got a pen that is not real well put together (fit and finish isn't great) but it writes like a dream. The nib is solid and sturdy and writes a nice wet extra fine line that is so smooth. I see more Hero pens in my future.

I never believed all of the people saying they wrote well until I bought one myself. It's writing a finer line than my "51" and it is doing so more smoothly. I am astounded.

Onoto K4, blue, small crack that does not cause leak but did keep price down. Dried ink almost pumped out.

An unplanned acquisition. I was running a few errands out of town and I thought I would stop at a B&M Pen and leather goods store (Presidential Pen) I go to from time to time and pick up some ink (no affiliation). I could not resist looking into the show case and saw that the had Aurora pens 30% off. Apparently Aurora is having some discounts. Well I've been eying a Talentum for quite a while now. I just like the size. I got the blue because it was just different. :) I'm very happy with the way it writes smooth and wet, filled it with J.Herbin Bleu Mysotis.

Just got my two Reform 1745s from the eBay seller PointyThings (No affiliation, just very happy customer). I bought on Wednesday night, it's arrived Monday morning. I've had Australian sellers take longer to ship things!

I've just inked one with Florida Blue. Lamy could learn a thing or two regarding how to make a smooth Piston from this little pen. It's a wet writer too, I'm getting a very deeply coloured line with some really nice shading.

Cheap pens are brilliant!

A Matador, French-made, from the thirties.

Will try (still learning digital photography) to photograph it later this week.

Have not yet tried it either. Will get to it as soon as one in the current rotation dries up -- getting more disciplined about the number of pens remaining inked at the same time.

One of my co-workers, gave me a Waterman Phileas about a month or more ago. She said she never used this pen, and she noticed that I regularly used fountain pens. I said thank you and accepted it. It had a nib that basically decomposed the minute I tried to write with it. No biggie. I ordered an extra fine nib for it which I received 7-20-09. I filled the converter with Electric DC Blue and just like that I joined the ranks of Waterman aficionads.

I really wish I could have gotten an italic nib, but I was told my only options with the Phileas were XF, F, M, and B.

That's my pen received story today!

Yesterday's mail brought the second Hero 70, and the last pen I'm currently expecting in the mail. Still waiting on some parts, though...

Does not always write loving messages.

Does not always foot up columns correctly.

Does not always sign big checks.

A Fountain Pentel.

Horrendously scratchy (think burred nail dipped in stamping ink on perforated sandstone), but it does have quite decent line variation.

Grey Parker Parkette Zephyr pencil, junk shop find for a few bucks.

I'd rather spend my money on pens instead of shoes and handbags.
