What Pen Did You Get Today?

George

Recommended Posts

I got a Bexley Poseidon, in the Blue/Yellow!

Beautiful pen. Even prettier in person than in the photos.

Medium/Full size but not the heavy.

I got the wrong nib size so I'll be sending it for a nib exchange.

So, sorry, no report on how it writes.

Got the Sailor Sapporo EF and Pelikan M205 F.

The Sailor writes like a dream but the M205 F is too broad. It is going right back out for nib customization.

I also got my Orange Waterman Phileas that I bought from the Marketplace.

I doubled the size of my pen collection!

I think six is enough for sure.

I have an M200 Binder F and two Phileas (1 F, 1 M) and the Binder F writes nearly as broad as the Phileas M. I hate to think what it would have been without being Binderized!

Six is enough? Different shades of blue ink, maybe. Different samples of a particular model of pen, maybe. But six TOTAL fountain pens? That is almost like eating one potato chip (brand will not be named).

Enjoy, and add to your enjoyment (get more pens) after you have spent a few weeks with your new ones.

The only other thing I want is a big red pen. With an EF nib.

Won't actually find out if I got either of them until I get home from work today, but I have a Sheaffer Fineline lever fill coming from VT, and a Pilot clear with gold trim demonstrator coming from Thailand. Both will assuredly be tasty.

Donnie

The Sheaffer Fineline Lever fill arrived, and it is lovely. I have to send an email to the trader, and let him know it arrived and I love it, and see if the Frontier arrived at his place.

Today I received a Parker 21 Desk set. P 21 pen, with long tail and squeeze filler, white onyx base with green felt on the bottom. I inked it with Noodler's la coleur royale (got to get some variety in my ink department - only have Noodler's lcr and Sheaffer Skrip BB) and it writes medium wet, with a little tooth. Not too shabby for an eBay total expenditure of $28.03 USD. Still waiting for the arrival of the Pilot demo from speerbob in Thailand. He sent it on Wednesday, as soon as he returned from vacation in Sri Lanka.

Got my first Pelikan.

A M200 Black with an EF nib. Now I know what the deal is. Still not as fast as my ATX, but a very nice pen that is very easy to write with. Definately jumped right to my A drawer. I just wish it was a little wetter.

I just received a Parker Sonnet Fougere which is just fantastic. It is a beautiful sterling silver pen that, according to the first owner made a trip to Richard Binder shortly after he purchased it. It shows as the pen lays down a smooth, wet fine line. I was a little concerned about the weight of the pen and the balance (my first Sonnet and first sterling silver pen), but it balances great both unposted or posted. I may just have to sell some of my other pens now.

a 1985 MB 146 with a 18ct fine nib which is buttery smooth and two next pens for september that are reserved for me by Mr Mora: a Bexley Americana and a french Parker Vacumatic in standard size with a gold filled cap.

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

Today received a "new" Parker 45, Stainless Steel, Med nib. These 45's are such smooth writers, regardless of the nib size. A nice pen I just don't worry about.

Week before I got three, count 'em, three Parker "51"s, all wonderful writers, and a Parker Vac Junior 1939. Not certain of the exact model, something inexpensive, but my first ... really old pen. I like how it looks and writes.

Once I get my Visa bill I can see a long dry spell ahead.

Enjoy your pens!

Today I won a Sheaffer Snorkel Statesman on eBay. I can hardly wait. It will be my first Sheaffer which is not green (not counting the two school Sheaffers I pruchased for my grandkids but have not yet given them). Hope to receive it by Friday.

Just when I had given up on any new pens before the September Dallas Pen show. My best bud and super pen restorer Danny Fudge gifted me with a sweet Parker 45 Burgundy with an Extra Fine nib. He knew I had taken an interest in 45's and had recently purchased a Flighter and decided I needed another one. What a Pal!!! Already filled it with Noodlers Burgundy Ink. Picked up a picture from the web (below) of one just exactly like it. Sweet!!

My "Yay, I got my MA!" pen arrived today. :D It's a Sheaffer Sentinel in pastel blue, purchased from Richard Binder and thus of course flawlessly restored and a wonderfully smooth writer. :)

It turns out the pastel blue is precisely the same color as the Tick!

Given that several people (including my mother... my family can be so strange  ) independently suggested that I should wear blue to my MA defense, and give the nearest academic-political weasel a Tick-ish victory speech if I passed, I find this amusingly appropriate. :D (I did not, of course, do this. I may be a tad odd at times, but I'm not completely insane. :P )

Congrats on the new pen, Djehuty!

I went shopping in Manchester and visited the pen store there. I bought one of the Lamy Safari 2007 black limited edition pens, along with a converter. Liking it so far

Most recent acquisition, brought this week from Kentucky by visiting family, was this brown Modern Stripe Skyline, which I restored yesterday.

The gold-filled derby came from my parts cabinet; the plastic derby on the pen was a wreck.
