Courtesty of a kindly FPN friend, a bunch of cheerful and cute Sheaffer NN pens (including the newish ones), and a Pilot Plumix, among others.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

Today I got six cheep pens branded beifa in clear coloured plastic there a bit scratchy and the ink that came with them does not flow but with generic cartridges bought from Sainsburys (25p for30 i think) and whsmiths coloured they work ok for the money.

My Huashilai 2375 arrived today from speerbob. Pretty for the price, and much heavier than it looks; full review already up in the appropriate column...

Does not always write loving messages.

Does not always foot up columns correctly.

Does not always sign big checks.

I received a Jinhao x450 I was waiting on this morning: one of the white ones with a gold trim and a twist carving on the barrel.

I wonder how many of us have astonishingly inexpensive Chinese pens that also write well. I have five definite "keepers", including a Jinhao X450 "gray smoke", plus a Jinhao Red Army Long March I gave to my wife, and only one dud.

Three Parker 45's, including a Flighter and one that seems to have the old 14kt medium point. Got them by accident, after putting in a "just for hoots" opening bid of about $14 one Saturday morning, and winning. No one else bid. I forgot eBay, did my Saturday chores, and noticed I'd won the Parkers.

I just got my Binderized 0.7 Cursive Italic Vanishing Point nib. It is wonderful! I think I may be in trouble as I may have to get all of my pens customized into italics (the only other italic I have is a Lamy Joy nib mounted in a Safari.

Binder does great work (As I am sure many of the other nibmeisters do as well)!

Well for you, if you wrestle on, for in persistency lies victory, and with the morning may come the wished-for blessing. But not always; there is a struggle with defeat which some of you will have to bear, and it will be well for you if you have cultivated a cheerful equanimity. Remember, too, that sometimes 'from our desolation only does the better life begin.' Even with disaster ahead, it is better to face them with a smile, and with the head erect, than to crouch at their approach. And, if the fight is for principle and justice, even when failure seems certain, where many have failed before, cling to your ideal, and, like Childe Roland before the dark tower, set the slug-horn to your lips, blow the challenge, and calmly await the conflict.

The only two I've found so far that are lemons were a Hero 616 that seems to dry up the second you fill it and a second hand Huashilai 2210 that leaks and has obviously been very heavily used. Not bad out of about a dozen.

On my way back from PA yesterday I stopped by Franklin's at the Factory Antique Mall (VA I-81 exit 227) and picked up two pens that he had on half-price sale:

--Waterman's Commando

--Mabie Todd Swan

There's a good selection of vintage fixer-uppers at his booth.

My first Eversharp Skyline, in blue Modern Stripes. Haven't even dipped it yet, I'm still just in awe looking at it. Can't believe that it took me so long to come around on the looks of this pen. Really gorgeous.

The day before yesterday, I was happy that I finally found the white Lamy Safari with F-nib.I took it immediately.

Last night, I bought the big Montblanc Meisterstück 149 with F-nib. It was my first (and I hope my only one) Montblanc, which I feel this brand is overpriced.

But I could not resist the temptation to acquire the classic legend. I hope I can have ultimate pleasure with my new 149.

yes, I too have limited enthusiasm for MB pens but I must make a couple of exceptions:

The black resin 149 is a beautiful pen with large ink capacity and one of the finest nibs available anywhere today. (I am told by someone who visited the factory that these large 149 nibs are hand finished there, and not bought in from a nib maker.

Additionally I think the 146 in sterling and the one in vermeil are outstanding beautiful.

All of these three pens have become a cliche of the yuppie world but they should not be underestimated on that account

The other day, I received the grey Parker "51" Aero with a bold nib that I purchased from Speerbob. I didn't have any ink to try it out until yesterday. All I can say is...WOW!

Bought a Burberry fountain pen today.

It's made by Pentel UK (based in Swindon) so it's a British pen.

Cap and Barrel made of specialy treated tartan fabric over brass.

Comes with a smooth 14k 585 M nib which writes like a western F.

Paid a very decent price for it so no complaint.

A Pelikan M200 Red Demonstrator, yesterday

Bought it on a whim. Turned out to be the very last one from the pen shop :bunny01:
