What Pen Did You Get Today?

George

Recommended Posts

Yesterday I received two fine nib Pilot "Tank" ED fillers from Graceaj in Singapore. I've inked one with Noodler's Legal Lapis; the LL writes a little wider than I would expect of this nib, which makes the LL line width pretty close to perfect for me.

The pens came with piece of foam in the end of the barrel. The only purpose I could see for it is to help retain a cartridge if the user were to remove the section-to-barrel seal from the cartridge spike. The spike looks like it's the proper size and shape for Pilot cartridges. I removed the foam to make more room for ink.

That is great handwriting though!

My arrival today is a Pelikan 100, circa 1938, green marbled binde, wartime CN nib in medium/broad oblique italic.

My first Wahl-Eversharp!!!

Its a "rosewood" Gold Medal flattop with the military clip, and a fine flexible nib that writes like BUTTER!

Here's a writing sample I made tonight (sorry, not great photography):

Received both my Vanishing Point Carbonesque and Omas Arte Italiana Paragon Black & Silver trim on the same day! By the way both pens were ordered from different sellers on different days

Bought my first fountain pen ever, over my lunch break.

It's a Faber-Castell Ambition in black resin, can't wait to get used to the pen. All I know so far is that it is a beautiful piece, that's for sure!

Not today, but the grail pen I was waiting on has arrived:

a Rotring 700 in fine.

(It's a very nice one indeed. I can see why there's such a fuss over these babies.)

Hi, I think the foam is kept to reduce the ink capacity when the pen is used in the ED mode. The reduced ink capacity means reduced likelyhood of low ink level overflow.

Best,

Hari

Got a Hero 187 along with a couple nibs for my Pelikan M200 and a converter for my Lamy Al-Star from Todd at isellpens.com.

Todd's great.

The Pelikan nibs are fun.

The converter is a good add for my Lamy.

The Hero is ... just OK. Writes well enough ... quite nicely, actually. Feels good. Looks attractive ... from a slight distance, anyhow. But the clip is cheap, stamped metal, the cap fits tenuously to the body and the overall fit and finish seems sub-par compared to any other pen I own. It's the first pen I've been disappointed with, which is too bad. It wasn't expensive ... only USD30.00 ... so I shouldn't complain, but it's too bad the little details are cheaped up when the fundamentals (the nib, the body) seem to done well enough. A near-miss, in my opinion. Should I buy another Hero? I'm not sure ...

I received a lovely crystal silver Sensa Meridian today, fine point. So far, it is a steady, solid writer.

I received it yesterday, but did not have time to write about it: a not-too-beat-up Canadian Parker Duofold Lucky Curve Big Red. The Lucky Curve is there, the inksac is missing, but the nib smoothly puts down a nice medium line with beautiful shading when dipped in WM Blue-black.

The black ends have rather turned brown, the imprint on the barrel has faded in the middle, but I knew that when I started bidding on flea-bay, so I don't really care: I'm quite sure it will make his way into my weekly rotation for work-pens.

Greetings

Miguel

A 1990 Visconti Ragtime Accademia Italiana from fellow FPNer sbroglia

Very beautiful and unique blue and green cellulose nitrate barrel and cap, with gold-plated furniture. Took it out of the box and I can hear a collective "Wow!!" from my colleagues who saw it  :cloud9:

My stipula vedo just turned up (medium nib, converter, not piston) with some new ink. But to test, I grabbed my trusty bottle of Watermans FB and it writes like a charm. Most pleased by this purchase!!

Lots of wants, limited funds!

Congrats, DP! I have two of them now. They look peculiar, with a clip unlike any other, but wow--those steel nibs are top quality. I've got two small stubs on 'em (one about 0.6mm and the other more like 0.8mm). Two of some of the best nibs in my court. ;)

Where did you find yours, seeing how they're discontinued? I bought one from Pendemonium (old stock) and the other from a German seller on "that auction site."
