Arrived today: Not one but TWO Rotring 700s in EF. This was the pen I fell in love with and abused for almost a decade before I destroyed most of it trying to transplant its nib onto another pen body. They came all the way from Germany where they were found as NOS, both with stickers.

Congrats, Splicer -- I remember how you were lamenting the destruction of your 700, so these replacements must feel fantastic. Where did you find them? I had looked on the 'Bay history and didn't see any NOS ones go by.

OK, don't shoot me, but I bought a rollerball pen.

There is something about the resin design of the Delta Maasai that grabs me, hard. I *love* it. But... over $400 for one of those fountain pens seems much, sight unseen. So, I thought I'd chance it with the rollerball, seeing as I got one for less than half the fountain pen. Well, my impressions were confirmed. The barrel is even more magnificent in person.

Also, there's a Delta Maasai review by an FPN member, and he included some great closeups:

A Montblanc 142.

It was handed to me months ago with the comment "I don't think it's ever worked.....".

Who am I to turn down a free fountain pen? The only thing wrong was someone had been VERY heavy-handed and the nib was distorted. Off to Richard Binder!

The pen arrived on my desk yesterday morning - repaired and stubbed - so now I can actually use it.

Conway Stewart Churchill Italic Medium Brown Swirl.. Love it.

And as a bonus, I re-aligned my S.T Dupont 2000 Limited Edition pen.. now it writes beautifully!

Pelikan M605 from Pam Braun.

Cost including the most expensive shipping method 80UKP (160USD). Cheapest I could have got it in the UK 135UKP (270USD). Who said said that globalisation is a bad thing

Received today a yellow Ancora Perla. Filled it up with PR's Orange Crush. Won it in an eBay bid from judperl.

Came with a 18K stub nib - one of the smoothest ever with superb flow. Too smooth to be a stub anyway - in fact, I'd say it's a broad nib rather than a stub, and the nib is round rather than elliptical, and you do not get any appreciable difference in stroke width when you lay down a vertical vs a horizontal line.

But the nib is quite flexible though, and this seems a better way to get a more pronounced line variation.

The Perla is supposed to be a limited edition with 500 pieces produced per colour, but what I got is a BLANK, UNNUMBERED certificate that accompanies the pen. And there is no number whatsoever on the pen itself, except for the sterling silver hallmark.

Could this pen be a..... fake??? :bawl:

After two weeks, worrying that they may be lost, my last two fountain pens are finally here!! I say last two because I have to stop the pen buying for a while. Technology has failed me and my wife needs a new laptop. So I will just have to stop and enjoy all the purchases of recent days for a couple of months!! No more pens until the Dallas Pen show in Sept!

Today from Israel I received a beautiful Parker 45 Flighter with gold accents with a med 10k gold nib now filled with Binder Blurple

And from Malaysia a beautiful Parker 75 in Gold Electroplate Celeste pattern with a xf 14k gold nib now filled with Noodlers Legal Lapis

My first 45 and first 75! Great day! Oops got to run and bid on that computer!

Taccia Portuguese in burgundy.

Very smooth medium German nib, which looks identical to the one in the Monteverde Sonata. The two pens are about the same size, though the Taccia feels a bit heavier, probably the result of the amount of metal on the end of the cap. It balances nicely for writing when posted, which is a good thing because small pens like this need posting unless you have very small hands.

Sometimes a technology reaches perfection and further development is just tinkering. The fountain pen is a good example of this.

Actually came yesterday, but nobody checked the mail. I thought my middle child had (he usually does when we get home from work -- we work at the same place). It's a Pilot 2A, NOS, from eBay, Australia. Filled nicely, nicely fine line, not particularly wet, with Skrip BB. This is my second turquoise 2A. Bought the first from Artaddict of FPN, but I tightened it too hard and cracked it, causing a leak. I didn't have it long, but long enough to like it, so I got another. I will be more gentle with this one.

My diamond silver Pilot Capless Fermo arrived this morning from Japan. The Fermo is a nice complement to my existing Carbonesque (aka Kasuri) and Decimo. I'm eager to test out the Pilot fine nib I have heard so much about, and I plan to order a VP cursive italic or stub nib unit as well.

FedEx stopped by with my new Hero 100. Nice pen with a little more weight than my Hero 336. Can't wait to ink it.

Lamy 2000! Lamy 2000! Lamy 2000!!!! Yes, you might can tell I'm very excited about my new...Lamy 2000!!!! Man, I just can't say enough good things about this pen. Super smooth medium/broad nib. I'm letting it soak in an ammonia/water solution to get any oils out of it. Should be up and running tomorrow. Was upset about the stupid sticker they put on the cap! It left some nasty sticky residue that still will not come off! Awesome pen though!

The pen that came home with me today is a Visconti Ripple Limited Edition (number 882 of 999) in blued sterling silver and mother of pearl resin. The 18kt gold nib is very pretty and writes like a dream, but it is the double reservoir piston filler system that really attracted me to this pen. I bought this terrific pen at Dromgoole's in Rice Village in Houston after Larry Dromgoole set it down in front of me while I was looking at Sheaffer pens--he's a good salesman, Larry is! I bought it, took it home and filled it with Noodler's Saguaro Wine ink and it writes like a dream. The pen's size reminds me of my Pelikan 1000 but in a cool sterling silver filigreed wrap. This Visconti is going to be a clear favorite of mine!

Sheaffer,

From one Alabamian to another: There is a product available called "Goo Off" by Lilly Industries that you can apply with a small cloth or even a Q-tip and it should dissolve the latent sticky stuff. I've had good luck with it. Of course I'm not sure what it would do to the case of a 2000...YMMV...so I suggest being extra careful. I've had such labels stuck on LCD screens, watch crystals, etc. Don't folk realize somebody is going to use these things once they're bought.

Anyway, enjoy your Lamy. I really like mine. And have a Happy 4th.

It didn't actually arrive today, but I got around to resacking it only this afternoon, so I consider today the date for this Oversize Sheaffer's Balance. Marine Green, round-ball pointed humped clip, really sweet firm fine nib, what's not to like?

Even better, it was a gift. From a client. Who refused to accept any compensation whatosever, even if it were to come in the form of a discount on repairs. Thank you!
