What Pen Did You Get Today?

George

Recommended Posts

I posted this in the "What pen are you waiting for in the mail thread?":

I'm waiting for a Montblanc 100 Years Historical! I didn't think I had much hope of ever obtaining this pen (every one has sold out! and the price! so expensive!), but I found it and I found it on sale. I got so excited that I paid for express shipping.

It came yesterday, a day earlier than expected. Hooray for expedited shipping! The Historical really is a neat pen--the retractable nib is interesting. It was stiff at first, required some muscle, and I accidentally gave the barrel a few little micro-scratches (boo!). It is also a bit smaller than I expected, but its size makes it cute. I can even hold it comfortably unposted which I find odd and slightly disturbing (are my hands really that small?!). I love the engraving on the cap. Unfortunately, I can't ink it yet because I forgot to order cartridges; I didn't realize that I was completely out (d'oh!). I won't be able to purchase any until the pen show on Saturday, but it will definitely be first on my list Saturday morning. So here's to hoping I like that medium nib!

My Custom 742 WA just got delivered from Japan to India in a record time of 3 days.

Regards,

Hari

Hari,

The two photos you provided of your custom Waverly nib are a feast to my eyes! Superb job of capturing its sheer elegance. I am going to purchase one from Richard Binder shortly, now that I have been sufficiently motivated (thanks!).

Great job, Hari.

Received a charcoal Kaigelu 316 today from an FPN member. What a lovely pen! Superb writer. Search for 'Kaigelu 316' and you'll find OldGriz's review from a while back - all of which is 100% accurate. :)

Aysedasi,

A quick search on the 'Net led me to the following three images. If THIS is what your new Kaigelu 316 looks like ... all I can say is ** WOW!!! **.

I was too impatient to see what your pen might look like, so I haven't as yet searched for OldGriz's past review. I'll do that immediately after I post this message.

Congratulations on your new FP!!!!!!

Cheers!

I got a Waterman off eBay. I finally found a replacement for the one that I purchased in Paris in 1989 that I lost sometimes in the mid 90's. It feels good to have a replica of one of the first fountain pens I ever bought.

Way to go, Andrew! And a great big hearty :W2FPN: .

I'm glad to hear you've obtained a replica of the writing instrument that helped launch your fountain pen 'career'...

Cheers!

I bought a Summit (Pre-War Eglish) pen on e-bay. BHR with a wonerful oblique nib. It is a honey! The chasing is really well deon and the nib wries as nicely as any I've handled for awhile - looks like a keeper for me.

I just received my Bexley White Tiger LE with fine nib. I inked it immediately and am very pleased. I has perfect flow and fits my hand nicely. It has now joined my list of favorites (I don't have one favorite pen, there are too many great ones).

Parker 51 and Parker 75. Last week, received an eBay P51 that needs comlete re-build, but I feel it's sort of a duty to keep them running. After all, that pen is about 65 years old. "At 65 years old, look as good you will not!"

Got a Hero 100 Classic Urushi from JLEpens on Marketplace today. Would also have received my 1911 full size, but the mailman pushed the non-functioning doorbell button, and left a notice. I am now going to put an out of order, please knock, sign over the doorbell button.

At the LI Pen Show yesterday, wifey got herself a Bexley Simplicity in cracked ice & and an F nib from Richard Binder.

My score was a Bexley Sheherazade in Blue Cracked Ice with a Blue see-through barrel, 18k 2-tone F nib and a piston filler. Amazing pen. Apparently, this is a custom color that Bexley only made 10 pens.

It is a stunning pen. I have to grab a camera and post pics of the Sheherazade. It's absolutely stunning.

Yeah, let's see it!

The show was smaller than I expected but still there were some interesting displays.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

We went to the Atlanta pen show today and I picked up a Clear Visconti Opera Master Demo rollerball. Yes, a rollerball. It's a very limited edition, only about 20 have been made and the Visconti rep had 4.

The end cap that normally attaches to the piston unscrews completely so you can replace the RB refill. Behind the cap threads on the barrel, the words OPERA MASTER DEMO have been etched. This is a stunning pen and a perfect complement to the original fountain pen version.
