I posted this yesterday in the "What pen are you waiting for in the mail?" thread:

I am waiting for a Montblanc Virginia Woolf fountain pen. I do not much care for limited editions (in that I am not interested in collecting them) but this one has great sentimental value for me, as Virginia Woolf is one of my very favorite writers. I had thought rather vaguely about one day owning it, but when I actually bit the bullet and ordered it I surprised myself a little. I believe it will be delivered tomorrow.

Well, it came! It came, it came, it came! And it is beautiful and fits my hand perfectly. The wave pattern adds an unexpected texture and warmth to its tactility. The nib, also, is gorgeous--those elms, oh those elms--as well as the engraving of V.W.'s signature upon the piston knob. I filled the pen with water to test and it appears perfect. Now the real challenge is waiting eight days to ink it: I have decided to procure a special ink for this special pen and devote a special day to writing with it--for sentimental purposes (I am a sap, perhaps a crazy sap). After this initial ceremony, it will become a daily user as every other of my pens.

P.S. I keep wanting to refer to this pen as "she." Now I have really lost it.

I went to the Luggage store in Green Hills/Nashville for ink and came home with a Krone Moderne Martinique. The good people of the store, Empress Susan and Steve, threw in the ink (PR Ebony Purple) and I left a very happy camper. The nib is M and is very wet. I've not had a nib this wet before and am still learning how to negotiate the flow. The paper quality in my journal is highly suspect I think. Krone is discontinuing the Moderne line in favor of Think pens and this was 75% off. I couldn't resist. I did contact Krone about adjusting the flow and they were very responsive. I think I'll try some better stock of paper and see if I can get better results.

If you are anywhere near Nashville, I highly recommend this B/M for a large selection of great pens and enthusiastic service.

My Pilot Birdie arrived! What a great little pen! I love it! Smooth, extremely fine nib (for a medium).

Currently running Noodler's Borealis Black, but I might swap that over to some of my NOS of Skrip King's Gold.

Am on a trip at the mo so have sporadic net access. A few days ago I picked up a Cross ATX in Champagne and Rose Gold for under £20 from an outlet shop. Lovely looking but the fine nib is wider than I expected (wider than my older fine nibbed Century II), and is also a little scratchy, especially on the ascending strokes. Gonna write to Cross Customer Services when I get back.

Today I was in Oxford and picked up a great little Inoxcrom. Don't usually like the gimmicky cartoons on them but htis one is chrome and white. Nice looking and writes like a dream - a wet but fine line. Very stiff and exceptionally smooth nib. Well pleased - such a great pen, and under a £5 too.

Got a Platinum 3776 ribbed in Black with F nib. Beautiful, and writes like a dream. Still waiting for a full-size 1911 in black, and an urushi Hero 100.

Received a charcoal Kaigelu 316 today from an FPN member. What a lovely pen! Superb writer. Search for 'Kaigelu 316' and you'll find OldGriz's review from a while back - all of which is 100% accurate. :)

I got a Waterman off eBay. I finally found a replacement for the one that I purchased in Paris in 1989 that I lost sometimes in the mid 90's. It feels good to have a replica of one of the first fountain pens I ever bought.

Not a pen per se, but I got three Esterbrook nibs, 9550, 9556, and 9968, and also got my VP 0.6mm stub back from being worked on.

Actually, it was Saturday, but what's a few days among friends? My second Lamy 2000. This one off the Green Board over on Pentrace. The pen came with both a F and EF nib. My current 2000 which was an ebay purchase a few years ago has a M nib and it's too wide for my taste, although it's a very nice writing pen. It's had a trip to the home office to repair the piston and it's since developed a slight leak at the metal/plastic interface of the section (not the barrel threads). The cap no longer posts, but that's not the end of the world.

When I saw this 2000 for sale I jumped at it. It was priced well, considering the extra nib and was advertised as in Very Good condition. I would say it's more like Excellent condition and came with box and papers. I've installed the EF nib and inked it up with Waterman Blue Black and it writes like a champ. Now I can send the old 2000 back for repairs if I can't fix the leak myself and maybe even look at some nib customization.

New pens are fun!

What pen didn't I get today should be more appropriate!

I received a parcel from our good fellow FPNer Bryant, which contained 5 (yes, you read it correctly : FIVE) pens plus other bits and pieces (Visconti inks, handmade journal, etc..). The pens are ...... <<drumroll>>.....

(1) Visconti Maxi VG Vanilla

(2) Visconti Maxi VG Cappucino

(3) Visconti Romanica Vermeil LE

(4) Visconti Romanica Silver LE

(5) Visconti LE Arte Mudejar

All the pens are beautiful writers. He was even so kind as to get the nibs customized for me before he shipped the pens ( live in Australia). Big "THANK YOU" to Bryant!

So, if anyone is on the market for Visconti or Omas pens, make sure you drop Bryant a line. I'm in no way affliated with him; just a very happy customer.

Made my first purchase today from Fahrneys Pens Inc out of DC. Had to do it online since I am sitting behind my desk in Iraq. So just to make sure I bought two.

I looked at everything they had (slow day) and then used everyones reviews here to find a couple of nice pens and even though I broke my budget some times a little luxury in this place is a a good thing.

So here is pen 1...

A Taccia Momenta FP in Chocolate Espresso

Pen 2 is a

Conklin Mark Twain Crescent FP in Red

Now if I can wait patiently for two weeks while they get here I'll be ok as long as my last uni-ball vision elite doesn't get lost, stolen or run out of ink.

Mmmm! Jimmie! This is some serious gourmet s**t! Usually, me and Vince would be happy with some freeze-dried Taster's Choice right, but he springs this serious GOURMET s**t on us! What flavor is this?

I don't need you to tell me how freaking good my coffee is, okay? I'm the one who buys it. I know how good it is. When Bonnie goes shopping she buys S**T. I buy the gourmet expensive stuff because when I drink it I want to taste it.

I'm with Kelly a few posts up: I got a Lamy 2000 today, a fine that writes like a medium (but that's okay). I've already dropped it out of the window of a moving car, and no damage. I'm always glad to get that first scuff out of the way so I can actually *use* the pen. I think this one is a keeper!
