I got my teal "51" with a fine nib last night. I'd been waiting for it for a while and had the package ripped open before I got up the first flight of stairs (I live on the third floor). I inked it immediately with Levenger Skies of Blue and its so buttery smooth I consider it a steal at $45. I love "51"s.

I got an Inoxcrom Monte Carlo, for the princely sum of £3.95 from ebay incl postage. Slim lightweight pen, brushed stainless finish with gold plated end pieces and clip. Stainless steel gold plated fine nib. Appeared to be completed uninked, in its original box. Fine nib, bit scratchy to begin with but some smoothing with Micromesh soon solved that. All in all, not bad at all, its a great writer.

I received an Esterbrook LJ blue, which was a wonderful surprise.

The e-bay Parker 51 Demi in Teal with Gold-filled cap is expected in today's post...

Hi,

Four pens arrived today, not new but ones I had left with Laurence Oldfield at the WES London Penshow for repair, haven't had a chance to try them yet, but having used Laurence a few times before I am confident they will be fine.

Pens are a Marbled Green Parkette Deluxe (new ink sac fitted), a Blue Hatch CS28 (new ink sac), A Silver Pear Vac Debutante (new diaphragm) and the mint Black Vac Debutante , I bought nibless from Maxrhino last year (nib and feed).

I will no doubt ink up and use at least one over the weekend.

Andy

Well, after 21 days the M420 finally appeared.

What a relief.

Your post was the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back for me. I, like you, purchased a Vanishing Point (a pearl white Décimo in my case, which is essentially the same thing) with a Fine nib, which served to add nothing to the character of my handwriting. The next item on my FP shopping list will be a Binderized Stub nib for my VP. Thank you for being THE person to have provided me with the proper motivation to get a far more appropriate nib for my needs.

Congratulations on receiving your VP w/Binderized stub nib!!! Please let us hear more about it when you get a chance.

Very Best Regards,

-Clive

Glad to be of help, Clive! :D I am very happy with the 0.6mm Binder stub. It took me a day or two to get used to the nib--it was my first italic of any kind, so there was a bit of a learning curve for me. At first I couldn't get the angle right and there were some starting and skipping issues. Now I have got the hang of it and it is flawless! My writing has a lot of personality with this nib--lots of line variation and enough width and wetness to show some shading in the ink (currently using Pelikan blue-black). I predict the V.P. will see much more use. Eventually I would like to try Mr. Binder's 0.9mm stub (or maybe cursive italic) as I am becoming more interested in broader nibs. For now though I am enjoying what I have!

Reprieve,

Hey! That's *GREAT* news!!! I'm really happy to hear your 0.6mm Binder nib has worked out so well for you. The line variations made possible with italic nibs provide such delight to the eyes, what can I say? Your prediction of much more use surrounding your venerable V.P. will, without a shred of doubt, come true. The nib makes all the difference in the world, doesn't it?

I placed an order for a 0.9mm Cursive_Italic nib for my Décimo with Richard Binder yesterday (Friday), so now I'll be the one impatiently waiting for one to arrive. Thanks for pushing me over the "brink of procrastination" ...

In the meantime .... I hope you're enjoying a terrific weekend!

Cheers!

Today, I received back my Edison Pearl with a nice med stub after a trip to Greg Minuskin for a nib repair. I also received my Danitrio Takumi model "Akikazu no Tsuki" today. I fell into this pen so fast! It is such a beautiful pen, and worth every cent for the masterpiece it is. I think the day ended happy.

Kiavonne,

I would say, without question, your day couldn't help but 'end happy' (!!!)

Which particular model of Edison Pearl did you get? They're all exquisite, IMHO. So much so, it would be extremely difficult for me to reach a "this is the exact one I want" decision.

Danitrio makes arguably some of the very best fountain pens available anywhere ... and at any price. Is the "Akikazu no Tsuki" Takumi model among those listed below? (Looks like I need to brush-up on my Japanese... )

Congratulations on owning two exemplary fountain pens.

Cheers!

Hi, Clive.

The Edison Pearl I have is the red and black ebonite c/c without clips or trims. Very sleek and lovely. I'd sent it off to Greg Minuskin for nib TLC after its unfortunate meeting with a tile floor. It is perfect, now.

The Takumi "Akikazu no Tsuki" can be seen here in winedoc's sale thread. It is the second pen, and absolutely mezmerizing in person.

Hello, Kiavonne.

You certainly made an outstanding choice I must say. Your Edison Pearl is remarkably rich and polished, without being anywhere near ostentatious. Brian is a master craftsman summa cum laude in my book. Sorry to hear of your Pearl's face-to-face encounter with the tile floor - courtesy of ol' gravity. If Greg Minuskin can't restore your nib to its former good health, it's safe to say no one can.

To be perfectly frank, I find it difficult to summon the appropriate adjectives that would best serve to properly/adequately (and justifiably) describe your breathtaking Danitrio Takumi Akikazu no Tsuki fountain pen. Its exquisitely detailed, liquid-like finish captures my attention to the point that the overall experience is indeed mesmerizing. Dramatically so.

Congratulations, Kiavonne. You have impeccable taste ... and tremendously good fortune, as well.

Very Best Regards,

-Clive
