What Pen Did You Get Today?

I got the poor man's (or woman's) Flighter....a Parker Frontier in stainless steel with chrome trim. It came with a M nib, and it writes wet, but is definitely closer to a M than a B. I like the rounded end (as opposed to the double metal jewels on my Hero 100 flighter) and it feels and writes much more expensive than what I paid for it...in fact, it writes comparably to my black lacque Sonnet with an 18K nib! It came with a 10-pack of blue Quink cartridges, but eventually I'll get another Parker converter and try out some other inks in it.

Forgot to post, but I got a beautiful Sheaffer's Balance (a later model with the clip type right before the totally streamlined one) lever fill pen and pencil set. It is black and is in spectacular condition. The nib needs some work though/ There is barely any tipping and it just doesn't write right. I'll send it to Richard pretty soon. Its the non white dot model. Not sure what it was called, but it was the $5 model. Very pretty pen indeed. Quite small though. The ink window is as clear as I've ever seen one before. I have a similar Military Clip lever fill that has a quite ambered ink window. Anyways, I might be able to get pics of it soon. Whats neat about this set is that it was a present from my twin brother for our birthday coming up soon. The pen set I got him came in today and is a Sheaffer's Vac-Fil Crest pen and pencil set. It is black also. Both sets came with their boxes which is pretty neat.

Got two Pelikan M200s from JD. Both had been through The Tornado, but have survived in very good condition.

One's a blue demonstrator, the other's green (non-demonstrator).

Couldn't be happier! (...unless he'd accidentally shipped the Visconti to me. Shucks.)

1944 Parker Duofold Vacumatic. It has an EF nib and is as smooth as a well-oiled baby bottom. This pen was wonderfully refurbished by Tom Pike and the picture really does not do it justice.

I'm a happy camper.

Actually yesterday. Got a Hero 616, maroon, fine point. Inked it, and it writes a nice, fine smooth wet line. I also have a P51 maroon, and held them side by side. Without calipers, cannot tell if they are different sizes; however, my very well calibrated left and right hand discern a definite difference in weight. The P51 is definitely heavier, perhaps 50% heavier than the Hero. At work today mostly alternated between Hero 616 and Hero 100, with occasional diversions to Tac Carry II. Life is good!

I bought a 1945 Parker "51" Vacumatic with a blue diamond sterling silver and vermeil cap and Cedar Blue body, with a medium/broad nib in 14kt. It's meant as a companion to my father's 1958 Parker "51" Special, so it better measure up pretty well! I can't wait until it gets here...

Something special arrived in today's mail:

It's a fine-nibbed 1945 gray pearl Vacumatic Major with a nearly matching pencil. The pencil has a striped pearl jewel, which is very sharp looking. The nib is smooth and wet and I'm going to use this pen exclusively -- until the next shipment arrives in my mailbox tomorrow.

I'm the happy owner today of a Sailor Sapporo, black, rhodium-trimmed, medium nib, which I got from Pam Braun (my first transaction with her). A little smaller than I realized but fits my hand posted and is well balanced. And the nib really is everything people say! A real understated but classy pen.

BillJ--you'll love your Duofold, mine is one of the best vintage pens I own.

I received an old style Pelikan M400 with two-tone gold broad nib. The price was quite reasonable, allowing me to have the nib reground and still be under the cost of a new pen with the same modification. As an habitual user of fines and soft mediums, the broad nib is a real hoot to splash ink liberally across a page.

A Pilot VP in black carbonesque. I can't fathom why I haven't bought one of these before as it's such a great pen!

Today I received a Lamy Vista from the FPN Marketplace (thanks, Andrew) - I like it better than my Safari.
