What Pen Did You Get Today?

A Staedtler student-type German piston filler, new old stock, from Judperl on Ebay.

Quite nice pen, similar to but writes a little smoother than my Reform 1745.

Striking turquoise color pen.

Yesterday I received 2 Sheaffer cartridge pens (one blue, one red) and a Waterman Expert II in Smart Brown. Today I will fill with the appropriate color inks and write away!

Well not today, but yesterday a Lamy Joy with a 1.5mm Italic nib.

Been having fun with it today, looking forward to writing out some artistic cheques with it tommorow, can't use it to sign them though, that be a job for my 149

Kind regards

I lost my Coleto gel multi-pen so I decided to replace it with fountain pens: Petit1s in Cherry Pink and Baby Pink.

Writing instruments of the moment:

  • Pilot Prera Fountain Pen in Vivid Pink XF (Levenger ink, Pinkly).
  • Uniball α-Gel Slim Pencil in Pink (0.3mm leads).
  • Pilot 742 Fountain Pen in Black with Falcon (flex) Nib, (Pilot ink, Black).
  • Nikko G Nib in the penholder.

Those look nice. Are they disposables, or can you refill them?

They’re refillable with only Petit1 cartridges. It’s the same size opening as any Pilot cartridge/converter but these carts are only half as long. So, these carts can go into any Pilot pen but, only Petit1 carts will go into these pens.

I just got a Falcon in soft fine and a Waterman 52 1/2 with a custom flex F nib by John Mottishaw the day before yesterday. Just great pens that truly function - which I haven't experienced before, and the 52 was a pleasant surprise with the flex width as well as tension reminding me of a crowquill. Also just in the overall resulting "line picture" with the unflexed line being quite fine, not a needlepoint but more like a japanese EF or maybe even a EEF.

The miniscule size of the pen also surprised me, I generally dont read or measure in inches and had just averaged it to a modern pocket pen in the back of my head as it was of no big concern when I first read the description, in any case I like it. Feels neat, as well as the resulting angle and grip being, if a bit cramped, close to the paper and very variable, something I like. I still haven't actually filled it up, might change how it behaves even though I did let it gulp enough to allow for a few doodles. Need more ink. Anyway, enough with my rambling. :)

I just got a gold plated parker 50 for free. Not the type of pen I would normally go for, but I like the nib design. It needs a thorough clean before I can use it but I can't wait. Also got a Parker 45 flighter for free. Its a well used pen but nice enough, and it fired up first time without a clean after at least 20 years sitting in a draw, and it wasn't cleaned last time it ran dry either.

So all in all, a pretty good week for me

Not today but for Christmas I got Bexley Simplicity in cracked ice.

I'd rather spend my money on pens instead of shoes and handbags.

I just received a red Sailor 1911 classic with an H-M nib. Looks great and writes well. I ordered it together with two bottles of ink, a Red Brown Jentle and Royal Blue Pelikan. Last week I got a black Shaeffer NoNonsense (NOS) with a medium nib.

A Rolltip. I think that this is an Italian pen made in the 60s and is very Parkeresque, a small 45, NOS.

A bit small for me, an ebay purchase that I should have left alone

Nib isn't as smooth as it should be though. Worked better in the store.

Pelikan M620 Place de la Concorde, unfortunately with wrong (B) nib fitted; should've been a Fine. I've written to the ebayshop in Germany (Exclusive Pens - anyone have any experience of his after sales service?) and, hopefully, he'll do the decent thing and exchange just the nibs without me having to send the whole pen back.

But, if not, does anyone know if the Pelikan Warranty's nib exchange arrangement necessitates sending the whole pen back to Germany, or is there somewhere in the UK?

Also, bottle of Diamine China Blue (specifically for the M620!!!) from The Writing Desk. Thanks for the normal superb service, Martin.
